  • Looking Back: Holy Saturday; Visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, Our Lord descends into Hell

I know Holy Saturday was almost a week ago now, however, I felt this video would be a beneficial meditation while we are still within the Octave of Easter. It will also give us a nice transition into one of the next episodes, where I'll be reading more visions from Anne Catherine Emmerich, on the days and events around Easter Sunday, and Our Lord's resurrection.  I hope you enjoy!

Remember, private revelations are not obligatory to the faithful, we as Catholics are free to believe in them or not. The choice is yours.

  • Who Shoots at Nuns?! and The Stations of The Cross from the "My Prayer" book by Fr. Lasance.

Stations of The Cross from the "My Prayer" book by Fr. Lasance.

I ended up having to upload this one later than I would of liked too, I tried recording last night and was way too tired and kept making too many mistakes. Then today of course I had to wait until I left work and attended mass before I could record and upload. BUT, I got it up. Hope you all find it efficacious!

Also, a short talk about some nuns in MO being shot at... Enjoy, God bless, and don't forget to subscribe!

  • A talk on different ways to practice the Way of The Cross

[HEY! Don't forget to head over to the YouTube channel to see the video of this episode! Live now!!! Also subscribe while you're there! Link Below]

In this episode I talk some about the devotion of the Way of The Cross. I give you a few short examples of different styles of this devotion, and explain the indulgence attached to it. I'm planning on uploading a video of the full devotion itself, seeing as this Friday is Good Friday. Until then, it's just me rambling about it a little bit and giving examples. I should note that the Father Lasance version I talk about also does have the Stabat Mater at the end of the meditations on the Stations of the Cross. Also if you have a suggestion on which version I should do on the next episode, drop a comment or send me an email, and let me know which one you'ld like. If not, I'll most likely go with the Father Lasance version. Until the next video, enjoy! God Bless! And don't forget to Subscribe and to check out the Anchor page! Link below.

  • Scriptural St. Joseph Rosary (In honor of March 19th The Solemnity of St. Joseph)

[HEY!!! This episode is up on YouTube where THE ST. JOSEPH SON OF DAVID PRAYER IS DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN!!! So you can pray along. ;) Don't forget to subscribe!]

Today is March 19th, The Solemnity of St Joseph!!!! In honor of this great and powerful Saint, my middle namesake, and Terror of Demons, I put together a scriptural form of the St. Joseph's Rosary! It took me quite a while to finish this one up and record, after a work day that went almost over 11 and a half hours!!! Fitting, for the Patron of all Workers. Because of this I would like to apologize for the lack of energy and the fumbling of some of my words. I do hope you enjoy! I hope you have a wonderful and blessed Solemnity of St. Joseph! (seeing as I forgot to say so in the video) God Bless!!!

  • Fasting and Lenten History Continued (Pillars in show description)

(Hey! This episode can be watched on YouTube!!! Go check it out!!! And while you're there hit that subscribe button!)

In this episode we pick up where we left off talking about Lent, and the development of our tradition. Mainly focusing this episode on the development of fasting and how we got to where we are today. Also, before that I explain a little bit about some of the things the Church requests us to do during the Lenten Season, while we prepare to celebrate the death and resurrection, of Our Lord, on Good Friday and then Easter Sunday. I hope to upload a few more Lent themed episodes covering a few practices that hopefully you can use for the rest of our time during Lent to help you contemplate about the reason we partake in these observances, such as fasting. Also be on the lookout on the 19th I'll be releasing a St. Joseph's Rosary recitation in honor of our celebration of this great Saints feast day.

In part of the episode I mention my Pillars; Here's a refresher in updated terms (seeing as I glossed over them and didn't reiterate):
    1) Meditation (Contemplative Prayer)
    2) Conformity to God's Will (Abandonment to Divine Providence)
    3) Understanding that Sin Causes Suffering
    4) Offering/Uniting Our Suffering with Christ on the Cross
    5) Memento Mori (Contemplation on The Last Four Things; Death, Judgement, Heaven, Hell)

  • Quadragesima vs. Khao Phansa, Lenten Differences

[Hey! This episode is also a video on youtube! Go check it out! Link below.]

In this episode, I explain the Buddhist tradition of "Khao Phansa", or also known as the Buddhist Lenten season, and figured I would take the opportunity to show the differences between it, and the history of the development of the Catholic Lenten Season and show why saying "Buddhist Lent" is not accurate.. To do it, I read from the Catholic Answers website, for a brief timeline of the Catholic Churches Lenten history. Mainly focusing on the development of the forty days of the Lenten season from as early as we can go, to the present day. In the next episode we will pick up where we left off and go over the development of the Lenten Fast. I will include the link to the Catholic Answers website I used below in case you would all like to go and read for yourself. Until then enjoy the history of this incredibly important penitential season.

    God Bless!!!

  • The Year and Month of the Terror of Demons (the importance of contemplating St. Joseph)

(Hey! This podcast is in video format on youtube as well! Click the link in the bottom of the description, head on over to youtube and check it out!)

In this podcast episode we talk about St. Joseph, the Terror of Demons. With this year being declared by the Holy See as the year of St. Joseph, and March being the month typically dedicated too, and associated with, veneration of this most powerful Saint. I felt it would be a good time for us to talk about the protector of the Holy Family and Terror of Demons. To present a few prayers and devotions dedicated to him, as well as how one might be able to gain a plenary indulgence throughout the rest of this year, by meditation on this great and Blessed Saint.
Below I have provided a grouping of links to various websites I used to put this episode together, as well as a few resources for prayers, novenas, and devotions associated to St Joseph.
Below those are the usual links to the show page on Anchor and other ways to follow. Enjoy! God Bless.

  • Know Thyself meditations: On Humility #9 (also, Wallet Rosaries and the Litany of Humility)

In this, we start our "Know Thyself" episodes back up, Starting off with a quote from St. Therese of Lisieux. We discuss and read about the difference of being humiliated and taking it in bad stride, versus being humiliated and using it to further one's own humility and personal growth towards Christ, and his example on the Cross. (Go to the youtube link below and WATCH instead of listen! =] )

Also we talk for a brief few moments about the Litany of Humility, known to some as being the "Toughest Prayer."  https://everydayprayerco.com/blogs/news/the-toughest-prayer(Check out EveryDay Prayer Co's online store and take a look at the wallet rosary cards! • Season 2 kick off! (Thoughts on Lent and the direction of the show, including a name change)

(Hey! this episode is also a video on youtube! Go check it out now! Link below) In the first episode recorded and uploaded in quite a while, I ruminate some on the season of Lent. Also why it’s been a while since I’ve brought an episode to all of you, and I lay out my plans for the show moving forward. Will Catholic With a Zen Mind cease to exist? Will I still focus on meditative Catholicism and contemplation on the Saints and their wisdom? Will we still analyze Buddhism in an effort to help keep people from falling into the traps of synchronization that so many seem to be ensnared within? Listen and find out! 😊 God Bless! 🙏🏻

About Catholic with a Meditative Mind

From the publisher's feed

This podcast began in error, and now I aim to fix that. I take older episodes I’ve uploaded and point out the errors, while highlighting any of the good that existed within them, in an effort to help mend any confusion I’ve created in the past. Many times I may just be chronicling my thoughts. Either way, it should be an interesting adventure.
