The Bible is filled with many wise people and their examples of wisdom. The Bible says, ”seek wisdom as silver and search for her as hidden treasure" (Proverbs 2:6). This Sunday we will be looking at the wise men who sought the new born King.
We still see wise people in our midst today. At Christmas, I see church signs that read, ”wise men still seek Him”. I suppose that is a sentiment which contains a kernel of truth. When we respond to His seeking of us, that makes us wise. That is what the Magi of the Bible did. The Lord gave them a light and they followed it until they came face to face with the Lord Jesus Christ. When they met Him, their lives were forever changed.
This Sunday we will be looking at The Fear Not’s of Christmas. Fear has been part of the human existence since the fall of man in Genesis 3:8-10. Everyone, regardless of how brave they seem, is afraid of something (snakes, spiders, disease, financial setbacks, old age, gray hair, no hair, rejection, disappointment, exposure, being forgotten, etc.). Even in the Bible, we can see where men were stalked by theirs fears. Nothing has changed! People are still caught in the grip of their fears, and this is even true during the Christmas Season. A time that should be joyous, happy and totally Christ-centered. We fear not having enough money, of not meeting everyone’s expectations, we worry over meals, over who will be there and who will not. We worry over gifts, Christmas cards, we just seem to fear everything. This Sunday we will see how Mary and Joseph, as well as the shepherds, overcame their fears.
We kick off our series on "The Events of Christmas". Pastor Rick preaches on What Child is this.
For many, Thanksgiving is a day when family and friends gather together and eat an enormous meal and watch football on TV. But it is more than that. We are to be thankful to the Lord every day of our lives. God actually says that being thankful to him is His will for our lives (1Thessalonians 5:18). Yet, I am afraid that we are a very ungrateful people! Children are ungrateful to parents, people are ungrateful to one another, and worse of all, people are ungrateful to God. Scripture gives us many reasons why we should thank the Lord for His goodness toward us. This Sunday we will be looking at Psalm 100:1-5. We will try to understand what these verses teach us about praise to the Lord and about being thankful unto God.
The apostle Paul had learned to give thanks, even in the most difficult situations. This man, who with his companion sang hymns to God at midnight in the cramped discomfort of a Philippian jail, had earned the right to recommend the same attitude of heart to others. So he says, “Be filled with the Spirit...giving thanks always for all things unto God” (Eph. 5:18,20). For the Christian, every day should be Thanksgiving Day, for God has created and blessed us daily with His grace and mercy. This Sunday we will be looking at how we can Give Thanks for Everything.

This Sunday we will be looking at The Pattern for Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. This passage is often referred to as the Lord’s Prayer. It was given to the disciples as a pattern for them to follow when they prayed. Therefore, we could rightly call this prayer "The Model Prayer" or "The Pattern for Prayer". This prayer is often wrongly used. We are not to just mindlessly repeat it from memory, but instead, we are to use it as a framework upon which we can build a prayer life that is offered to God, heard and answered by Him, and one that glorifies His name.
