Chantian and family are single handedly creating and hosting the underground tattoo movement in Thailand with their DIY studio Tiny Small Tattoo Club where they host Celebrity Scratchers from all over the world.

At Tiny Small Tattoo Club, these young artists are pushing a radically new style never before seen by a heavily traditional community. Not an easy thing to do! We got so much respect for these guys. And on top of that, their studio page is so good! It would make any American shop owner envious—It’s just so genuine and wholesome, it really makes you feel like part of the family.

I heard about these guys from Gael Cleinow who we interviewed in an earlier episode you can listen to here. These scrappy young artists are what it’s all about.

This was the key points of Patrick’s message (as we understood it)

- If we care about accessibility then we should speak slowly & clearly and use language anyone can understand

-If we care about inclusivity then we should be featuring black & disabled artists instead of Eurotrash artists

-If we want to become full time creators and have the biggest tattoo YouTube, then we can do that by focusing on accessibility and giving voice to marginalized people instead of covering tattoo culture or trends

-If we can find the time to create resources like The Scratcher Library, then we can find the time to make posts like the 10 most wheelchair accessible studios in LA.

-When we say things like “Marginalized communities are underrepresented in mainstream tattoo media” we are wasting our energy. Instead of educating people that a problem exists, it’s more impactful to share the incredible work that marginalized people are doing. By sharing their stories we can learn about the obstacles they face in their own words.

Celebrity Scratcher @nekoasylum tells us her remarkable story of how she went from DIY beginner tattooist to landing a residency at one of the best studios in the country in less than 3 years.
