The Celtics built a lead as large as 27 points in the second half as Jaylen Brown hit 15-of-17 for what already marked the most efficient scoring night on high-volume shooting in Boston history. A Lakers team without Andre Drummond, Markieff Morris, LeBron James and Anthony Davis folded quickly and struggled to score as Boston's bench thrived behind Payton Pritchard and Luke Kornet's offensive activity while Robert Williams III sat. Then, midway through the 4th, Brad Stevens went to the bench in garbage time and a Los Angeles depth unit led by Talen Horton-Tucker charged the Lakers back to within seven before the Celtics bench took a walk of shame in favor of Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and Brown, who sealed Boston's fifth straight win with two inside shots to reach 17-of-20, only the 17th player in NBA history to do so.
