The Celtics turned the ball over 19 times, surrendered an early lead and struggled to stave off Nets runs throughout as they fell behind by 17, surrendered 32 points and a handful of late miscues after rallying to within three points late cost Boston the opportunity to beat a Brooklyn team atop the east missing Kevin Durant and James Harden. Jayson Tatum turned the ball over five times while scoring 38 points, including two late miscues. Marcus Smart struggled in the first half then salvaged his game with a trio of shots in the paint that pulled Boston close after halftime. A barrage of young players with Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown out failed to impact the game, while Bruce Brown, Jeff Green and Joe Harris secured victory for the Nets handily.
