Rusya Federasyonu'nun tam anlamıyla bir savaşa dönüşen Ukrayna'ya yönelik başlattığı askeri müdahale aralıksız devam etmekte ve dünya her gün Ukrayna'da vahşet dolu savaş manzaralarıyla karşı karşıya kalmaktadır. Savaşın yol açtığı korkunç ıstıraba paralel olarak, Ukrayna'da işlenen savaş suçlarına ilişkin son derece ağır iddialar dile getirilmekte ve bu iddialar giderek daha fazla geçerlilik kazanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda Ukrayna'nın bazı şehirlerinde sivil nüfusa yönelik katliamlar yapıldığına dair iddialar, görüntülerle desteklenerek çeşitli uluslararası medya organları tarafından dünya kamuoyunun dikkatine sunulmaktadır. The #EuropeanUnion ( #EU ) member states have approved at the #EuropeanCouncil on 21 March 2022, “A #StrategicCompass for #SecurityandDefence ” document. According to the factsheet prepared by the EU #ExternalActionService (EEAS), which carries out the EU’s #CommonForeignandSecurityPolicy , The Strategic Compass (SC) provides an analysis of the strategic environment of the EU and seeks to bring greater coherence and a strong shared sense of purpose to the EU’s security and defence efforts. To this end, it is stated that the adoption of the SC is a strong sign of unity, that the EU Member States have for the first time agreed on a shared vision with detailed objectives of what they want to achieve in security and defence, and that the SC demonstrates their firm determination to make the EU a more capable actor in security and defence. Furthermore, it is described as a guide for action, providing concrete proposals and timelines for the coming 5-10 years of the EU. Currently, the #Western block is focused on different parts of the #European continent, namely, the #Baltics and the #Balkans . Yet, unlike the #Baltic region, the Balkans has not only been experiencing political crisis but also an existential crisis for quite some time now. The #Westerncountries and specifically the #EuropeanUnion countries as a group have decided to transform the #Balkanregion ontologically, starting with its name. Apparently, the Balkans is divided into three sub regions. According to the EU; Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece, since they are members of the EU, are not part of the Balkans anymore. On the other hand, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, and Macedonia comprise the so-called "Western Balkans" sub-region. Turkey, by its lonesome self, makes up the "Eastern Balkans" region. How a single country by itself can make up a region is left unexplained. It is clear that the term "Eastern Balkans" is used as an exclusionary term; it is simply utilized by the EU to exclude Turkey from the rest of the European continent …

In our analysis titled "Consequences of the #MaterialBreach of the Lausanne Peace Treaty" published on 7 October 2020, we gave information about the demilitarized status of the eastern Aegean islands in the framework of the #Lausanne #PeaceTreaty and drew attention to the direct linkage between the possession of #sovereignty over those islands and their #demilitarized status. In this context, we stated that #militarization of these islands in contravention of the relevant provisions of the #LausannePeaceTreaty amounts to “material breach” of the mentioned #treaty , since the #demilitarization provisions are essential to the accomplishment of the object or purpose of the treaty. Additionally, we reminded that “the ‘ #materialbreach ’ of one of the basic articles of the any #peacetreaty might end up with an outcome that makes #sovereignty over the #islands mentioned in the corresponding articles of the treaties which their provisions materially breached, questionable.” In our analysis, we also underlined that the #Dodecanese , consisting of large islands such as #Rhodes and small #islands such as #Castellorizo / #Meis (which are very close to the south and southwest coasts of Turkey), are in demilitarized status pursuant to Article 14 of the 1947 Paris Treaty …
