We’ll pick up with our teaching from last week with the same passage of verses from Ephesians 4 and look at the specific instruction the apostle Paul gave, teaching us to be Used-to-Be[s]

A Used-To-Be is someone who has experienced a dramatic transformation of being, because of the power of God through salvation. This teaching is needed because every TRUE disciple of Christ is a Used-To-Be.

We are all vessels and conduits for the Lord to work in and through. We receive, according to the Bible, what we expect and believe. According to your faith, as you pray, expect God to answer.

Jesus taught His disciples a simple prayer, which we now apply as a template for communion and petition with the Lord. Communion is where we enjoy the presence of the Lord: speaking and listening. Petition is making our requests known to God. But there is one more prayer compound: Intercession.

We want to align our hearts and our wills along with that of Christ. Prayer, being a dialog, provides the capability to communicate in two ways: receiving and sending. In communication with God, when something is done for us: that is petition.

There is only one;way in this life to live in perfect peace and fulfillment. That one-way is through knowing why you were Created. The reason there is so much anger, confusion and complete madness in this world and yes even the Church is because people are seeking for the meaning of their lives in people, places and things.

Foundational Statement: The only one who knows why you were Created is your CREATOR.

This series will deal with one of the key attributes of our Faith. Prayer provides a means of communication with God. We converse with God the Father through Jesus Christ His Son in the Holy Spirit. Prayer doesn’t have

to be difficult or mysterious. Prayer should be quite natural, but hasn’t always been taught to be natural.

We’ve been called to a higher elevation. What does God require of us now as we endeavor to live as a City on a Hill? Today we’ll gain insight from one of Jesus’ foundational teachings: The Sermon on the Mount.

Why is this series called “City on a Hill 2020”? What are the specific steps God is calling COP to intentionally take to function as a City on a Hill? Using one of Jesus’ most often misunderstood parables, we’ll answer these questions and move forward in obedience to the Lord’s call.
