We are in agreement that we are to be active participants in the breakthroughs of others, and not just our own. The Lord of the Breakthrough is faithful in providing everything we need in order to be the conduit for His grace and glory to be recognized in the lives of His children: both present believers as well as pre-believers (non-Christians) He is working on.

God initiates, facilitates, and carries out every single breakthrough in our lives. We have receive breakthrough after breakthrough from the Lord. But what is our role in the lives of others. If we are truly called to be branches connected to the Tree (Christ) and bearing fruit (love), then we are to actively look for ways to impact the lives of others.

We are called by Jesus Himself to “go and make disciples…teaching them to obey the commands of the Lord.” This entails sowing of seeds (the Word of God), watering the ground (praying the Word over the hearts), and shining His light in order for germination and growth to take place. But how are we supposed to engage the ground and His Word?

There are two primary ways in which the Word of God uses light as an illustration of what happens in the life of a believer between the Word and the Spirit. First light is referenced as knowledge. When someone is in darkness they are without knowledge and unaware of truth or reality. However when they are made aware (enlightened) that knowledge can be referred to as light.

Breakthrough has for many years been viewed as a means for God to show up for us in times of dire straights. The truth is that God is always here and He provides according to His riches in Christ Jesus. The deeper truth of breakthroughs lies within the attribute of LOVE known as “self-sacrifice”.

Many Christians go through their lives with a breakthrough-to-breakthrough mentality; meaning, they believe for God to do something extraordinary in their lives to meet a need or to fulfill their purpose or calling. This causes a very one-sided and limited Christian walk: consumed with receiving from God rather than being a vessel to be

used by God.

We are the branches connected to the True Vine (Christ). “God is love” (1 John 4:8). The love of God flows through the Vine into the branches, and the branches bear good fruit (love). This love is to be given away. Love is the fruit of the Spirit of God (Galatians 5:22-23).

Every believer is designed to bear fruit (produce good works) within the Kingdom of God (God’s modus of operandi). His sphere. As disciples we are to grow in our faith walk, which empowers us to manifest God’s purposes within the earth.

We are called by the Lord to bear luscious fruit, the fruit of the Spirit, which is LOVE. The Apostle John, in this passage of 1 John 4, uses the word LOVE (agape) or derivatives thereof several times.

We begin a new emphasis on the theme of True Life is Bearing Fruit. We have learned thus far about Jesus’ instructions to abide in Him, the True Vine. We also now know that our legacy is not about what we have received over the course of our lifetime, but rather what we have given through the heart of generosity.
