  • Philippians - Live as Citizens of Heaven - PDF
Sunday, December 10, 2023 – We continue studying Paul's book to the Philippian church. The title is "Live as Citizens of Heaven." Citizenship in America has become a big topic in our political world today, as it should be; to be a citizen is an important identity. One becomes a citizen of a country in one of two ways: 1. Birth or 2. Naturalized through a legal immigration process. Citizenship comes with many benefits, assuming one is a legal citizen. When one becomes a "naturalized citizen" or goes through a legal immigration process, their "Identity" changes. That identity change is essential for that person to become a productive member of that new country. Now, let's look at what it means to become a "Citizen of Heaven”. Heavenly Citizenship is the most important type. No one is born as a citizen of Heaven, instead, everyone is born as a citizen of this world. To become a Citizen of Heaven, there must be a legal immigration process, called Salvation. This is a huge change in identity. We know the condition of this world, and it isn't good; even though God created it perfectly, mankind has botched it up and has given control of it to Satan. Paul writes to the church in Philippi in our text that we "must live as citizens of Heaven." How do we become a citizen of Heaven, and what does it mean to live as one? That's what we're talking about today. Worship and study with us; I promise if we do what we discuss today, it will change your life.

  • Philippians - God's Purposes Bigger than Circumstances - PDF
Sunday, December 3, 2023 – Today’s message is the 5th in our study on Paul’s letter to the Philippians, titled “God’s Purposes Bigger than Circumstances.” Paul shows us how to live above the circumstances of life by knowing his purpose in them and recognizing that God will complete what He wants accomplished. As a result, Paul can make some bold statements, like; “To live is gain, but to die is Christ,” even while being torn between the desire to depart from his earthly situation or to go on living, which he understands will require a commitment to be a fruitful laborer for Christ. By having that level of committed faith, he can be free from the fear of living and dying and be joyful and productive independent of his life circumstances. There is much for us to learn from Paul. Worship and study with us.

  • Philippians - God's Plans Always Succeed - PDF
Sunday, November 26, 2023 – Today’s message is the 4th in our study in Philippians and is titled “God’s Plans Always Succeed.” We had the privilege of having Pastor Sasha and Olga Skrypak and their four children from Ukraine with us in our service on Sunday, and it was an honor to share God’s word of encouragement with them. Tuesday evening, November 28, at 6:00, they will be sharing their experience and ministry in Kyiv. They were in the city when Russia attacked it and have since lost their home due to the invasion. They have an ability, beyond what everyday Americans do, to associate with the type of problems that Paul was experiencing as he was writing to the Philippians as he was under house arrest for two years. The faith that Paul had to endure, realizing that God’s plans always succeed, is what we can learn from. Paul’s success in building the kingdom of God didn’t come from a lack of problems; instead, his success came amid the problems. Worship and study with us as we learn that God is still the same today as He was then, and be encouraged that He has everything under control.

  • Philippians - From Idealistic to Realistic - PDF
Sunday, November 19, 2023 – We continue studying Philippians. Today's message is titled "From Idealistic to Realistic." Here's a question: When you listen to a pastor or bible teacher, are the messages so high, lofty, and "Idealistic" that they sound unachievable? If they are, do they become a rhetorical discussion without applicable application? If that's the case, how do we move from being "Idealistic" in nature to "Realistic" in application? That's what we're talking about in this message. As we look at the prayer that Paul prays for the church in Philippi, it may appear to be an Idealistic prayer. When we break down the prayer by looking at the key phrases and inviting the power of the Holy Spirit to work in us, we move from the “Idealistic" to the "Realistic," which is when God's revelation knowledge changes us. Let me end this introduction with one more crucial question that will help you see the importance of what we're discussing. Here's the question: At your funeral, how do you want your children and grandchildren to remember you? What do you want your "Legacy" to be? By defining that, you can proactively set goals to be satisfied when that time comes. Think about these questions as you worship and study all with us.
