In Philippians 3:7-8 Paul says all of the accomplishments and things he used to value are “worthless”. He goes on to express that the most important thing for him on the other side of meeting Jesus is to “gain Christ” but how exactly does one do that and is everything else really worthless?  In this sermon, Pastor Kristyn offers us some perspective about what it looks like to be a citizen of heaven and keep our eyes on Jesus in a world that is constantly fighting for us to put our attention elsewhere.

The book of Philippians was written by the Apostle Paul as a letter to the church in Philippi; a wealthy town that bordered a province of Rome. It has been said that the only thing certain after birth, is death. That concept feels morbid and, even though it’s true, most of us don’t want to think about dying. If you’re like most people though, you probably do find occasionally find yourself wondering what happens after you die? Some might argue that the afterlife doesn’t really matter when this life is the one right in front of you but the Bible offers a different perspective. A perspective that reminds us what we believe about the afterlife will determine how we live this life.
