Whenever you hear the whole story from someone it can change your perspective on what took place. This is exactly what Jesus is trying to help his disciples understand, that the whole Bible is leading up to the cross. When we understand that full picture it gives us confidence in what God is doing and transforms how we view our own lives.

The "home stretch" of Jesus' "Road to the Cross" was uphill. It was not an easy road, but it was a road that God the Father had traced for Him from the very beginning, and one that He led His disciples on with hope, determination, and deliverance as His goal.

Jesus cleansed 10 lepers but only one returned to praise Him. That man was not only healed physically but saved spiritually. Jesus confronts us in our age of entitlement and ingratitude to reveal that the only appropriate response of those who have received Christ's mercy by faith is profound praise.

On His road to the cross Jesus encountered 10 lepers whom He healed. But only one came back to thank and praise his Master and Savior in humble submission. The road to the cross should be marked by immense gratitude. The fact that Jesus saved us and cleaned us from all unrighteousness ought to make us the most grateful people alive! There is nothing that we have done to earn, buy or work for our salvation. It is a gift - one that deserves a proper response.

Jesus paints a difficult picture of people wanting to get into the kingdom of God, but missing the opportunity because they missed the main point of his message. In answering ?"Will only a few be saved" he gives us a beautiful picture of the kingdom of God and a chilling reminder not to delay.

As Jesus journeys to Jerusalem and the cross, he tells his disciples that entrance into the kingdom is a narrow door and encourages them to strive to enter through it. However despite the difficult entrance he encourages them that the kingdom is open to all who would trust in Him.

Jesus has some difficult things to say. No one likes to hear about judgment, and yet Jesus talked about it more than anyone because that is exactly what he came to save us from. Jesus calls us to wrestle with the reality of justice and salvation and to follow Him and call others to do the same.

This is a somber passage that deals with judgment, division and the need to understand the spiritual climate we live in. As important as it can be that we are prepared for the day's weather, Luke 12 compels us to prepare ourselves for a far more important event: Christ's return. Because of Christ's coming judgment, it's critical that we live lives that are wholly surrendered to Christ, for our sake and for that of others.

The road to the cross is not as straightforward as it sounds. It is full of twists. How can what ultimately brings peace and reconciliation be riddled with persecution, conflict, and division? How can a road marked with such suffering be so comforting? As we follow Jesus down this road, we discover its beauty - twists and all.
