In secular or Christian worldviews there are many things that are believed to be crucial to great parenting: honesty, consistency, patience, openness, love, security, using discipline wisely, etc. But what if the most important thing about parenting had nothing to do with children?

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:1-2

The beauty of the Christian life is faded and muddled when we lose sight of the true nature of God as three persons. Instead of a life of deeply knowing and loving a beautiful God we reduce life to good or bad works. Our task is to reorient our understanding of the Christian life through the lens of a triune God and rediscover the beauty we are being transformed into.

God created us in such a way that we need to balance in our lives. Too much of anything is eventually harmful. The same is true in the Christian life, we are called to hold two very important truths together, the need for our sanctification and the reality of peace with God.

Before creation God existed in perfect, relational, loving communion - One God in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From the overflow of that relationship and the deep love that the Father has for the Son, God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them, and then He sent His Son to redeem creation when it fell into sin. Until He returns to make all things new, He has given us His Spirit for everything we need. Our task is to reorient our understanding of the Christian life through the lens of a true God and rediscover the beauty we are being transformed into.

Scripture: Titus 3:3-3:7

God, as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, working in salvation is massively important for helping us get our bearings on what being saved even means. If we get God wrong, we get what we are saved from, why we are saved, and what we are saved wrong as well. Scripture points to a triune God overflowing with love towards us, which changes everything.

It is really hard to trust something you don't know or understand, and therefore if we don't understand our salvation we will keep on trying to do it ourselves. But when we come to understand the work of our Triune God in salvation we realize that we can trust Him and thank Him for all that he has done.

Too often we simplify God's work of salvation and settle for a concept of salvation that while not false, is incomplete. Titus 3:4-7 presents us with a rich Trinitarian presentation of how the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all work together to accomplish the work of salvation in the lives of believers.

The question of how and why God created the world seems like a very esoteric question to answer, yet it is one that everyone needs to wrestle with. How we understand the beginning of the world gives us an understanding of who God is and our purpose on earth. (Note: the first few minutes of the message is missing)
