In this sermon we will unpack the story of a woman with a spiritually oppressed daughter who sought freedom in Jesus. We will consider what spiritual oppression looks like today and what we can learn about finding freedom in Jesus from the example of this woman.
As we return to our study of Matthew we pick things up in chapter 15 where in the midst of multiple conflicts Jesus teaches the people then, and us today, the depth of our defilement, the only means of cleansing our defilement and what cleansing brings.
We finish off our three-week series with a message that looks at the disciples our - call of being in but not of the world. What does this mean, how is this carried out and what undergirds it are the questions this message addresses.
In lasts weeks message in this series we looked at why Westside exists To Make Jesus Known. Today we ask how and answer by diving into the shared importance of the gathering and the scattering of the church.
In this final sermon on the human experience we will look at what is arguably the most important experience of all, love. Where does our desire for love come from and why do we have such a difficult time finding the love we're looking for? How does God's love compare to all other love and how do we receive, walk in, and respond to it?
In this sermon we will unpack the human experience of fear and the opportunities offered to us through it. As God works to make us more like Jesus He uses not only the good but also the bad experiences of our day to day lives to do it. Fear is no exception. What opportunities exist to walk closer with God in the experience of fear? And how can taking those opportunities free us from the power that fear tries to wield over us?
In this sermon we will unpack the unique way Jesus offers for dealing with the human experience of regret. We'll ask questions like: What are the implications of living in a culture that avoids the experience of regret at all costs? Why is it that we fear failure and do whatever we can to distract ourselves from it? And how is it that we can be freed from the weight of regret without having to close our eyes to the reality of our own brokenness?
In this sermon we will unpack the human experience of anger. Why is anger so destructive to us and our relationships? Where does it come from? And how can we deal with the root of it as opposed to simply treating the symptoms?
In this, part 2 of a 2 part sermon on lust, desire and passion, we dive into our call to be people who pursue greatness not for our glory but for the glory of God while being aware of the pitfalls along the way.
