In today’s episode, you will hear the inspiring talk that speaker and thought leader Anne Nicholls gave at The Big Talk Academy’s Virtual Showcase.

 

Anne, a retired teacher and lecturer, is the mother of five and lives in London.  Working with numerous communities in Kenya, she provides menstrual and sexual health education together with reusable pads to close the gender gap and eliminate the shame and stigma of menstruation.  Currently, her focus is on including boys in these crucial conversations.

 

In her talk, she explores:

• The effects of period poverty on many young Kenyan girls

• The cultural stigma and taboos around menstruation that persist globally

• Why including boys in conversations about menstruation is crucial for creating lasting social change

• The ways period poverty extends beyond access to products
