So do positive affirmations work? Well, if you're not into woo woo things, then you might say no. But they do actually work. And science backs this up!
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I look at what affirmations are, why they work, how to use them and then some examples of ones that I've used.

On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to my dear friend Kelly Sage from Curiosity Encouraged. It's a special episode where she speaks about ways to raise engaged and joyful readers and writers.
As working homeschool moms, having kids who are engaged in what they're learning, makes life so much easier! It saves so much time and energy! And we all know how important these two resources are!
If you're feeling overwhelmed by the idea of teaching your children these important skills, then you could consider outsourcing. Kelly is launching an awesome membership in August. She's an amazing teacher with more than 18 years of experience teaching Language Arts and she's pouring all her experience and love into Creative ELA.
She's got an hour-long free class called The Ideas Inside Me that your child can take to get a feel for Kelly and how she teaches.

On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I chat to Amy Sloan. Amy and her husband John are 2nd-generation homeschoolers to 5 children from 7 to 17 years old. The Sloan family adventures together in NC where they pursue a restfully-classical education. If you hang out with Amy for any length of time you’ll quickly learn that she loves overflowing book stacks, giant mugs of coffee, beautiful memory work, and silly memes. At any moment she could break into song and dance from Hamilton, 90s country music, or Shakespeare. Amy writes at HumilityandDoxology.com and hosts the “Homeschool Conversations with Humility and Doxology” podcast.
This is a fantastic episode and Amy shares so much valuable advice as a second generation homeschooler and working homeschool mom. As she also homeschools multiple ages, there's great advice if you're in this season! You can find Amy on...

Until next week dear friend, take care!
In today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I talk about one of my favourite topics...mindset! When you start out with working homeschool mom life, you might want to concentrate on all the practical and logistical things that you need to do. But I'm a firm believer in overcoming mindset blocks first before you tackle any of that stuff.
If you have a fixed mindset or lack confidence as a default, you're going to find everything overwhelming and difficult. Because working homeschool mom life is hard! And it's especially hard at the beginning when you don't know what to do! In this episode I give some practical ways to overcome mindset blocks so that you can be a happy and thriving working homeschool mom. My hope is that it will help you to craft a life that is unique and works for you and your family.
I have lots of other resources for working homeschool moms that I would love to share.
Until next week lovely! Take care!
On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I have the absolute pleasure of chatting to Camille Kirksey from The Intuitive Homeschooler. Camille is an author, homeschool coach, and CEO of the digital media company, Intuitive Media. She has homeschooled her three children since 2013 and is currently working on Empowered Beginnings, a course for homeschool parents-facilitators.
During our chat, Camille shares some of her homeschool challenges and how they've made her a better homeschooling mom. She also speaks about the reality of being a working homeschool mom...we need to embrace imperfection, be authentic and keep on showing up. My favourite takeaway is that mindset is everything. You know how much I love mindset!
Camille also shares information about World Homeschoolers Day, which she founded in 2021. It's a day where we get to celebrate all the diversity that is homeschooling. It's happening on the 3rd of June 2022 (or the first Friday of every June), so be sure to follow along and take part!

On today's episode of the Strike a Balance Podcast for Working Homeschool Moms, I speak to homeschool blogger and reading curriculum creator, Sarah Miller. Sarah is a homeschool mom of two, and an educator with over a decade of experience teaching kids in preschool through high school.
She helps homeschool parents teach their kids to read with confidence at Homeschooling 4 Him, where she shares tips and tricks to make homeschooling simple and fun. Her Reading Curriculum, Reading Better Together, uses side by side reading stories and scripted, science-backed lessons to help kids fall in love with books through the process of learning to read.
My biggest takeaway from the chat is how we should prioritize becoming experts in our children. Because after that, the homeschooling gets easier! And we'll be able to teach them everything they need to know. Sarah also speaks about homeschooling little ones and the importance of self care for us working homeschool moms.

The go-to podcast for Christian homeschool moms who want to achieve work-life balance and homeschool effectively.
Are you trying to balance your calling to…
Do you feel like no matter how early you wake up, there’s never enough time for school, work, and the house?
Are you praying for peace and wisdom as you raise kids who love learning and love Jesus?
This podcast will help you organize your homeschool, manage your time wisely, and balance work, home, and faith — without waking up at 5 a.m. or color-coded schedules.
Hi, I’m Elisa — and this is my 6th year homeschooling. Back in 2019, my world flipped upside down when my son was kicked out of school after the vaccine religious exemption repeal in New York. I thought homeschooling would be temporary, but as a single mom running a business, I was terrified I couldn’t keep up. How was I supposed to teach him everything his growing brain needed while also putting food on the table?
In fact, I doubted myself so much that I packed up our lives and moved 650 miles away just so he could attend public school again. But God had other plans. When we returned to homeschooling — this time with no family nearby and no built-in support system — I wrestled daily with the same fears you probably do...
Can I balance work and homeschooling?
Am I doing enough?
Will my kids fall behind?
What I discovered is that homeschooling is not school at home. Once I let go of unrealistic expectations, leaned on God’s strength instead of my own, and started building systems and routines, things shifted. We had more freedom - now my son and I do life together, and he’s learned to think critically, explore his interests, and grow in his faith. And I finally found the margin to run my business and disciple my child without constant burnout.
Now, I help other Christian work-at-home moms do the same — by trusting God with the outcome, simplifying homeschool, and creating time management strategies that bring peace to your days and keep your focus on what truly matters.
If you’re ready to simplify your homeschool, manage your time with confidence, and create a faith-filled home that actually feels peaceful, then grab your coffee, take a deep breath, and let’s get started.
