Aeron “Damphair” Greyjoy, presides over the Kingsmoot. Against his intentions, his brother Euron is chosen by the captains of the Iron Islands. Simon and Mackelly consider what might have been.
Chapter Review:
Aeron Greyjoy convenes the Kingsmoot on Old Wyk. Three Iron Island captains throw their hats in the ring, but none can command a significant portion of the electorate. Victarion Greyjoy promises a continuation of Balon’s legacy - and he lavishes gold and silver bribes to prove his case.
Asha Greyjoy sneers at her uncle’s claim, she is the child of Balon and the natural heir. Her promise is of land. She’ll make peace with the north and swell the Iron Islands holdings by tenfold. The two seem to have a similar number of followers. But a horn sounds silencing all.
Euron Greyjoy is the one Kraken to have never tasted defeat. His horn will bind dragons to him, and he knows of three dragons growing in Essos that will give him all he needs to not just win the north, or the west, but the whole of the Seven Kingdoms. His chests of gold and gems seal the deal and he is proclaimed the new king.
