In Isaiah 48 we learn that there is rest for God’s people because God Reassures His People. We may be like Israel and wander from God’s instruction and commands. But the quicker we learn to obey the quicker we’ll experience God’s blessing. His  Word reassures us of that.

In Philippians 3:20-21 there are glimpses into the heavenly home and hope of all believers in Jesus Christ. It’s these insights into whose we are as believers in Jesus and our heavenly home that awaits us that should encourage us to live wholeheartedly, preparing ourselves for eternity, and showing others the way to follow Jesus.

There is rest for God’s people because their future is in His hands. We can work hard to secure a future for ourselves, and work is necessary. But it was never meant to secure us the way God does when we trust Him and follow His Word. In Isaiah 45 we learn to see how God gives rest to His people.

God’s children need good examples to follow. God’s children should also be learning to be good examples others can imitate as they follow Christ. But there is also the need to learn to avoid sinful examples. Philippians 3:18-19 warns and shows us ways to identify examples not to follow.

We find in Isaiah 44 that there is rest for God’s people because God is a redeemer to His people. There is rest because God redeems and works on behalf of all who are His.

Living the Christian life and being single-minded in our devotion to Christ isn’t easy. We will stumble and falter at times. But God has given us Christ-like examples to help us. Philippians 3:17 calls believers in Jesus to imitate those Godly examples. Others should also be able to follow our example as we follow Christ.

As adult children of God, you will likely find that you fear some things that might happen to you. It’s human nature. But God reminds us that He is always near and that He is ready to help us. We can see that in how God tells His chosen and loved people, Israel that He will never leave them.

In the passage before us, we will hear Paul compare the Christian life to running a race. This is necessary and good for us to hear. If your faith is in Jesus Christ you have entered a long-distance marathon. The Christian life is not a sprint to the finish. It is a way of living in which we are to keep trusting in Christ, we must keep pressing on until God calls us home to our eternal home in heaven.

Throughout the Bible, God shows us who He is. There should be no confusion in the world over who God is. But at times people will say, "We all worship the same God." But gather together the world’s multitude of religions and compare them all to what the Bible teaches and you will find that we do not all worship the same God.
