We find in Isaiah 44 that there is rest for God’s people because God is a redeemer to His people. There is rest because God redeems and works on behalf of all who are His.

Living the Christian life and being single-minded in our devotion to Christ isn’t easy. We will stumble and falter at times. But God has given us Christ-like examples to help us. As adult children of God, you will likely find that you fear some things that might happen to you. It’s human nature. But God reminds us that He is always near and that He is ready to help us. We can see that in how God tells His chosen and loved people, Israel that He will never leave them.

In the passage before us, we will hear Paul compare the Christian life to running a race. This is necessary and good for us to hear. If your faith is in Jesus Christ you have entered a long-distance marathon. The Christian life is not a sprint to the finish. It is a way of living in which we are to keep trusting in Christ, we must keep pressing on until God calls us home to our eternal home in heaven.

Throughout the Bible, God shows us who He is. There should be no confusion in the world over who God is. But at times people will say, "We all worship the same God." But gather together the world’s multitude of religions and compare them all to what the Bible teaches and you will find that we do not all worship the same God.

In Philippians 4:8 Paul says that his desire was to “gain Christ”. In verses 9-11 he shows us what gaining Christ looks like. This is best seen in three spiritual graces that are gifts from God to every believer in Jesus.

There’s an experience of rest, joy and strength that only comes from God as we turn to and trust in Him. In the book of Isaiah we see this clearly. God had offered rest to His chosen people, Israel. He had even sent them a prophet to deliver a message of hope.
