When we arrive at Philippians 2:14 we find that “working out your own salvation”, living out your faith in Jesus, gets very practical. The message from Paul here is simple: stop grumbling! Paul is taking head-on the sin of complaining. And yes, complaining is a sin and we need to be quick to repent of it when we are guilty of it.

None of us naturally gravitate to humility. We want to pursue our own comfort first. But, for there to be unity amongst God’s people in the Church, God’s people must be growing in humility, with Jesus as their model.

Ephesians 6:12 reminds the believer in Jesus the battle they are involved in is a spiritual battle, "against the spiritual forces of evil". Keeping that clear in our minds will help us remember that the fight we're in is not against people.
