A new survey conducted for The Canadian Press suggests most Canadians would like to see a total ban on guns in urban areas. 69% of respondents to the Ekos Research poll said they agree with the notion of a total ban on guns in urban Canada. Support was highest in Quebec at 76 per cent and lowest in Alberta at 48 per cent. Is it time for Canada to completely ban guns in urban areas? Our next guest doesn’t think so.

A real life urban legend… a family in Seattle made an unusual discovery inside their bathroom last week -- a snake was hiding in their toilet. KOMO-TV reports the family called police after a child found the 4-foot snake. Officers remove the snake. Though rare, reports of snakes being discovered in toilets are not unheard of. A Kansas City, Kansas family found a ball python inside their toilet in 2015, and similar incidents have been reported around the world.

The BC Court of Appeal has upheld a BC Supreme Court ruling, that the province does not have to pay the full 8-million dollar compensation award to Ivan Henry, a man wrongfully imprisoned for 27 years.

In a bombshell decision, the BC Supreme Court has decided to stay first-degree murder charges against gangster Jamie Bacon, in connection to the Surrey Six massacre. The decision from Madam Justice Ker is from a sealed file -- but comes after closed door hearings and applications from Bacon's lawyer to have the charges tossed. The issue appears to the ability of Bacon to properly defend himself -- after his lawyer came into contact with privileged and confidential information. In a statement, the Prosecution Service says it's connected to solicitor client privilege, litigation privilege, informer privilege and public interest privilege. While the charges against Bacon have been dropped, two other gangsters -- Cody Haevischer and Matthew Johnston -- were convicted of six counts of first degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Quebec’s religious neutrality law has been suspended by a Quebec Superior Court judge. Section 10 of the Act (personnel members or those receiving services must have their faces uncovered) will be stayed until the final guidelines are published next July. The court judgement states individuals should be given the opportunity “to seek accommodation on religious grounds” from the law.
