In 2012, Devin Kelley not only escaped from a mental health center, but was convicted by a US Air Force court-martial of domestic abuse after assaulting his first wife and stepson.

The person who reported Kelley’s escape warned police that he could be a danger to himself and others and had been caught sneaking weapons into Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, where he had been stationed, according to the police report. He had attempted to “carry out death threats that (Kelley) had made on his military chain of command,” the report stated.

Roy Halladay, a Toronto Blue Jays legend, was killed today at the age of 40 when his plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico. The plane went down near Pasco County north of Tampa; investigators said the small plane was found upside down in shallow water north of Bailey’s Bluff in Holiday, Florida.

Pasco County Sheriff’s officials announced the news in a press conference Tuesday afternoon, saying Halladay was a friend with a “heart of gold.”

More than a year after the huge leak of tax-haven records known as the Panama Papers, there is another massive disclosure of documents involving politicians and corporations and how they park their assets to avoid taxes in their home countries. This time it’s known as the Paradise Papers, a leak of around 13.4 million records showing how the wealthy stash their money in offshore accounts.

If B.C. distracted drivers didn’t get the message the first time, there’s a chance they could get it now. Currently, two distracted driving tickets in one year cost approximately $1,256, but the provincial government is making a move to add $740 to the existing penalty.

Meanwhile, sticking with driving and tickets - nearly 1000 speeding tickets have been nabbed by photo radar in Edmonton junior high school zones in the past two months!! City officials say there were a total of 1023 violations, and 856 tickets handed out in September and October. New speed limits came into effect in September after the city voted in favour of expanding school zone speed limits of 30 km/h to include junior high schools. Previously, 30 km/h school zones were only in place surrounding schools with kids from kindergarten to Grade 6.]
