North Korea is taking Donald Trump’s recent tweet, which read “Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at the UN. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer” - as a declaration of war. It’s something that the US isn’t taking too well...in fact, they’re denying that they are at a state of war at all.  Citizens from eight countries will be banned from entering the US because of “inadequate information sharing and risk assessment protocols.” Speaking to CBS News’ “60 minutes” Senator John McCain revealed the prognosis for his aggressive brain cancer isn’t looking great.  

Former Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts has thrown her hat in the race for the leadership of the BC Liberal Party. Watts will step down as MP and member of Federal Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer’s shadow cabinet to focus her energy on the race.

This weekend, on what is normally a casual, relaxing football Sunday, the sports world was in turmoil over Donald Trump comments calling players who take a knee during the anthem “sons of bitches” and calling for their firing.

If a Federal Election were to be held today, 39% of Canadians surveyed in a Forum Research Poll says they would vote for the Conservatives, with only 35% voting for the Liberals. This hypothetical election would end with a Conservative minority, with the party holding 169 seats to Trudeau’s Liberal at 130.

The Crown and defence want him sentenced to life – but say he should be eligible for parole after 17 years for his murder of Surrey teenager Serena Vermeersch.  Raymond Caissie showed no remorse and took no programs in prison while serving 22 years behind bars.  He was released and committed and even more violent crime.  Tomorrow on Back on the Beat John Daly is examining what could have been done to prevent this murder and what can be done in the future to prevent others like it.
