The federal Conservative Party has removed a controversial senator accused of damaging Canada's reconciliation efforts with its Indigenous people from all Senate committees.  The party says in a statement that Senator Lynn Beyak has lost her spots on the Senate's agriculture, defence and transportation committees although she remains a member of the Conservative caucus.

Winnipeg Mayor Brian Bowman called on Beyak to resign after she posted a letter on her website calling on First Nations to give up their status cards in exchange for Canadian citizenship -- with the mayor noting Indigenous Peoples already are Canadian citizens.  Charles speaks with him tonight about whether or not the actions taken by the federal Conservatives are enough.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is calling President Donald Trump ``deranged'' and says in a statement carried by the state news agency that he will ``pay dearly'' for his threats. For the first time in 35 years, the BC Supreme Court had to cancel its family and civil chambers courtroom in Vancouver on Monday due to shortage of judges. Facebook launched an overhaul of how it handles paid political advertisements today, responding to criticism that it has not done enough to prevent the manipulation of elections.

His arrest for the killing of Serena Vermeersch three years ago sparked a huge debate in B-C about dangerous offenders being released back into the public.  Last week Raymond Caissie pleaded guilty to second degree murder.  It's not the first time he's faced a jail sentence, he served his entire 22-years for a violent sexual assault and kidnapping in Abbotsford back in 1991.  Parole hearing after hearing denying an early release, and even Caissie warned he was likely to reoffend when he got out and he did.  Jill Bennett was in the court today and explains more about this tragic case.

Calgary police officers are stretched to the limit according to Calgary’s top cop, who said in a statement to Global News on Tuesday that exhausted officers are doing all they can to keep up with an increase in people and crime in the city.  Officers on patrol during the day are now working on their own — instead of with a partner.The police union has said it’s opposed to the practice, and said it puts both officers and the public at risk.  Calgary Crime Reporter Nancy Hixt explains more.

The federal Conservative leader has issued a personal apology to Environment Minister Catherine McKenna for a comment that was made on Twitter by a Saskatchewan MP.  Gerry Ritz -- who is the member for Battlefords-Lloydminster -- referred to McKenna as ``climate Barbie'' in a tweet earlier this week.

The NDP leadership race is underway, and as Martin Patriquin writes, especially in Quebec, it looks like a bit of a lose-lose situation, particularly when it comes to Identity Politics.  

The BC Utilities Commission has released its preliminary report into whether building the Site C Dam on the Peace River should continue. The commission says there are still information gaps that need more evidence and analysis before it can make a decision on the 8.3 billion dollar project. The panel has asked for responses from BC Hydro and the public in two weeks. It also says it will hold community input sessions across B.C. A final report is expected by November.
