A man who was having a heart attack and needed to get to the nearest hospital as soon as possible was transported to a hospital in North Dakota under an agreement with the province. He was then assessed and they realized that he needed more than they could give and he would have died had he not been sent to Grand Forks. He was transported there and his life was saved but now they are faced with a $118,000 bill.

In Calgary today, Travis Vader was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the murder of Lyle and Marie McCann. It’s still not yet known how the elderly couple were killed, and Vader has maintained throughout the entire process that he is guilty. The couple vanished on a camping trip six and a half years ago, and their burned motorhome was discovered in the bush near St. Albert two days after they left for their trip to Abbotsford.

Today, Donald Trump officially issued directives for a border wall with Mexico, and to crack down on US cities that house undocumented immigrants. Spokesman Sean Spicer says this order will “enable construction of a large physical barrier on the southern border,” showing the promise to build a wall was “more than just a campaign promise.”

Donald Trump has been President of the United States for less than a week, but that hasn’t stopped him from making waves here in Canada. From pulling out of the TPP, to signing an executive order on Keystone XL, it’s pretty obvious that our economy is going to be impacted by this Presidency. One trade experts says we shouldn’t be too worried though, and thinks that Canadians should be careful to not “exaggerate the threat” Donald Trump may or may not pose.

A study from the USA has found the number of couples between the ages of 20-34 who haven’t married are on the rise since 2000. It could be because more young couples are living together without getting married, or because most young couples are busy saving money...or millennials just don’t have the time to put into a relationship.
