Charles Starkweather grows up in a working-class household in Lincoln, Nebraska, but he experiences turmoil at an early age. When he starts school, his classmates torment him relentlessly. Over time, he transforms himself into a fighter, and embraces the persona of a rebel of the 1950s. He falls in love with Caril Ann Fugate, but when he reaches his lowest point, he commits his first act of violence.
