A few weeks before this interview Paul Smith is standing at the rear of his stunning Noosa gallery, he's ducked out for a break, head down responding to messages on his phone, he senses my approach as my shadow falls over his screen...he looks up. "G'day mate, I'm Odell."

Now we sit face to face surrounded by his increasingly popular fine art. Paul talks about his 30 odd creative years of producing work, his love of the ocean and his adoration of music..and the process of documenting both.

This is a great conversation with a private artist that rarely gives interviews.

Matt 'Rokit' Williams sits opposite me nervously fidgeting as Jon adjusts the cameras "I haven't really done an interview like this before...'" he begins to tell me before I cut him off with a "Mate we're recording, introduce yourself and lets get into it...' The nerves quickly fade as he tells me about his 14 years as a working photographer, his growing love for the ocean and his initial hesitation to move to the Gold Coast to pursue a lifestyle change.

I've spent the last 18 months with Rokit, been there to witness his journey into IN water imagery and in this episode we talk about all that he's learned along the way, how his previous knowledge translates to the water, and what his take on the pursuit of Ocean Imagery is.

Dave Kelly is that mythical water housing maker that you hear about..but you can't quite tell if you know him or just know about him. His name is spoken by many a professional IN ocean image maker and he's responsible for providing the housing for some of Australia's most iconic surf footage and art.

A surf photographer that carved out a living shooting for magazines Dave decided he needed a water housing to get unique images that he could continue to sell to publications..thus was born Dave Kelly Water Housings...a former trade qualified car body repairer Dave honed his skills in the Australian mining town of Newcastle, where he still resides. The regular image taker of a young Matt Hoy and Luke Egan, Dave tells us his thoughts on all things ocean imagery, life and what artists today should be doing to succeed.

I love talking to the veterans of the game, this one's a long one...but a good one. Enjoy.

Iain Stanley is a Rabbitohs supporter, a former Sydney sider, now a University Professor teaching in Japan.

"G'day!" Iain greets me with a massive smile looking into the video call we'd spent ages trying to organise. "Don't tell me your a Broncos man are you!" he jabs at my struggling NRL side...and this is how our first conversation goes. An open book, with a vast amount of knowledge Iain loves the ocean, the art of writing, the craft of photography and the passing on of his wisdom.

I first met Jon a couple of years ago, he had a pop up store not far from my house, his work hung on the walls of a large space and I was drawn to it above all others on display. We got to talking, I complemented him on his work. Some months later Jon and I spoke about mental health and the affect of injury, he asked about my experience with them both and I listened to what he was experiencing...I said I'd suffered with crippling anxiety and that a healthy dose of therapy with my physiologist meant I rarely felt it anymore.

A year or so on Jon and I sit opposite each other in the Dbah carpark, it's the first video recording for our foray into a collaborative YouTube project.

He talks about breaking his back in a cyclone swell at Kirra, starting photography, turning that passion for photography into a full time business...and shares all he's learnt in the last 10 years as a creative...so you too can have a career in the industry.

On this date (24th Dec) 3 years ago I published the first episode of this little show called Chasing Clarity. Now, after more than 30,000 downloads, 60 episodes and countless hours of learnings I look back at some take aways from the past and play the guests audio that relates to the knowledge.

Adrian Bullock swims away slowly from an enormous Great White, I watch the TV screen as the shark dips its head and closes in. My friends names flashes across the bottom as a credited diver/videographer.....I can't believe my mate is so calm. This footage broke on every news channel in Oz, I had chills before knowing it was my friend...I had to get him on the show!
