What are some of the things you heard about Metabolism?
We want to show you that Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is a little bit of a better marker to help you on your health and fitness journey
Some references for you
Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy
Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories you burn as your body performs basic (basal) life-sustaining function.
Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
For men:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A + 5
For women:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A - 161
Revised Harris-Benedict Equation:
For men:
BMR = 13.397W + 4.799H - 5.677A + 88.362
For women:
BMR = 9.247W + 3.098H - 4.330A + 447.593
Katch-McArdle Formula:
BMR = 370 + 21.6(1 - F)W
But we think that the best way for you to truly measure your BMR is to find somewhere near you that will test if for you with a tube and a computer measuring your BMR or your RMR
There are places and services such as Body Spec
Here is a video to explain it and show you what it looks like in more of a clinical setting

In this episode we listen to an instagram reel that has to do with starvation and metabolism
A lot of people think that they have a "broken metabolism" but that is most likely not the case

Kye went on a trip to Portland for some counterstrain and of course we had to talk about it and discuss the process of getting better movement and getting people out of pain
We have mixed feelings about the word "healing"
More specifically how people are using that word as a cop out or crutch.
In this episode, Noah and Kye have a few things to say about mobility and flexibility when it comes to exercise as well as mental health
We bring you a reel from Dr. Aaron Kubal, where he talks about a different approach on stretching and mobilization exercises
In this episode, Noah and I watched a Instagram Reel with some shocking statistics around walking. Now we were a bit skeptical at first but then we researched it and wow!
We suggest to find certain activities that increase your heart rate and encourage movement, it does not necessarily have to be walking. We state this in the episode, as walking could not be beneficial to some people
Yes, we are talking about genetics again but only because we believe that these diagnosis are more harmful than good. We have plenty of research and studies to help prove this point but also we use a lot of logical progression to come to these conclusions. At the end of the day it is up to you though, you have the final say in what you want to believe in and we stand behind your decision whether it aligns with ours or not.
In this episode, we get an update on what exactly Noah does and how he does it. A little bit more in depth and real live examples that have happened recently
