40 percent of feeling in movies and television is done through music. It is often used to amplify the chemistry between actors or the importance of a scene. And it can also conceal production flaws or poor performances.
What’s it like to be a composer in the Entertainment World? Today’s very special guest is accomplished Canadian composer Christopher Nickel.
I had the pleasure of working with him on a short film called Pluripotent in what feels like a lifetime ago. He has since then performed concerts all over the world and composed music for movies and shows on networks such as Discovery and Hallmark Channel.
As many soundtracks are becoming more of a song album, I believe through this conversation you will appreciate the artistry behind the work of greatly trained musicians.
Christopher shares with me the challenges of his love for classic music and the promotion of his work through solo albums and performing. He also gives us great insights on cultivating patience.
Let’s all discover a greater sense of connection with the beauty of the world through notes.

Prolific actor Jonathan Silverman indirectly defined my movie business career. His hit movie Weekend At Bernie’s was one of the first films we helped distribute overseas.
The son of a Rabbi, Jonathan caught the acting bug early on and was catapulted into Broadway, experiencing fame and fortune in 80’s Los Angeles, a very different Hollywood that today’s.
Tune in for a very special and lively discussion on his meeting and working with Meryl Streep, aka GOAT. As we travel back in time he recalls the fond memory of grounding advice received from his mentor John Lithgow about consistency.
In a little over 30 minutes, you will discover a humble and very funny artist who seeks to put out good work but also appreciates a normal life that allows him to be present while raising a family while expanding into producing and working with his wife on several shows and movies.

Erica Gerard di Bona is an accomplished production executive and the author of “ The Power of Thank You:
How Writing a Letter can Open Doors, Make Friends and Close Deals”.

What does an Entertainment Lawyer really do and do creatives really need one?
In this episode, we meet one of Hollywood’s top Entertainment Attorneys who truly cares for artists, because he is one.
His weekly clubhouse session on entertainment law exposed drives hundreds of people every week to get precious legal advice that you will be paying hundreds if not 1000s of dollars for and he offers that as a gift to the artistic community. Before UTA he practiced law and the two top talent boutique agencies and had an early legal career as a litigator and First Amendment lawyer in New York. This podcast, like drifting down a river, is a very unique ride, filled with raging waters of longing to do more with one’s profession, to peaceful ponds of integrity when one walks away from that which does not feed one’s soul to going on journeys in strange places in foreign lands to make unlikely friendships and writing a book about it, to defending free speech and ultimately becoming a spokesperson for good and ethical business practices in shark-infested Hollywood.
Are you ready to paddle downstream with us? Then put your earbuds on and let’s go.

Director and writer Jim Fall is my guest today, and you don’t want to miss this conversation. He made his big splash in Hollywood in 1999 with the indie feature TRICK, showcased at Sundance. And then he went on to direct in 2003The Lizzie McGuire movie for Disney. At the time, it came in second after X Men in the box office. He then directed the likes of Zachary Quinto in VH1, and John Stamos in the Wedding Wars at A&E. Jim found his niche in directing niche - from same-sex romcoms to Christmas movies to vehicles for Disney darlings. But at the core, he is about storytelling and bringing to life what’s on the page.
Find out how he got TRICK made, what it was like to jump from indie film to making a Studio movie, to his first and hopefully last experience working on a Christmas movie that put his patience and artistic commitment to the test. But Jim is someone that forgives and moves on. And in this podcast, he shares his views on what makes a good director, maintaining personal integrity, working in harmony with your entire crew, and identifying the audience that will follow your journey, even if you are not the latest social media sensation.

Can Art be run like a Business?
Yes, it can. All artists are deep down entrepreneurs, taking risks and investing in themselves for their “creative startup.”
In this very special episode, the Founder of the leading networking and educational platform for creatives around the world, STAGE 32, tells us the story of his own ME, INC, and how the inception of Stage 32 came about.
Richard “RB” Botto created his business opportunities for his art, but ultimately for the higher calling of uniting creatives with the accessibility of a social platform that is unique in its kind.
A writer, producer, speaker, actor, educator, RB takes us on the journey of building a personal brand that will actually create opportunities and a career in Hollywood and beyond, not just “likes” on Social Media and popularity.
A huge believer in the power of community and meaningful connections amongst like-minded peers, RB will be direct and concise with actionable advice on leveraging personal branding as well as his own definition of being an authentic artist.
Please share this podcast and send us your feedback /review on apple podcasts for a unique opportunity to enter a raffle to win 1 digital copy of RB’s book, CROWDSOURCING FOR FILMMAKERS.
