  • Writing a Bestseller with David R. Stokes

    Send us Fan Mail

David R. Stokes loves American history. And theology. He poured his creative juices into both areas by writing compelling stories and inspirational books. His fictional novels got him published by Random House, with a few of his books climbing the best seller charts.  David first began working in radio with his own national XM satellite radio talk show and has been a frequent guest host for talk shows across the country. Over the years, he has interviewed hundreds of political leaders, authors, media personalities, historians, and business leaders.

As an ordained minister, he had in his congregation some prominent figures of Washington- that became the source for many of his great characters from his books “Camelot’s Cousin” and “Apparent Danger.”  His work got the attention of actors like Blair Underwood, who will be producing one of his books together with Little Studio Films. In this really intriguing podcast, we discuss how authors get published, the role of Faith in creativity, and some fabulous “what if” scenarios that inspired the exciting plot lines in all of his books.

What if you actually went after your dreams, even if it means leaving the familiar and safe choice behind?

This is what Spanish actress Maite Uzal did. And it paid off: from being a lawyer in Spain to moving to America only to be cast in a starring role in the Broadway tour of the Fiddler on The Roof musical. The journey was certainly not an easy one.

In this inspiring podcast conversation, you will get a behind-the-scenes look at the audition process for Broadway, learn how Impostor Syndrome can sabotage our perception of an event,

and that you can be who you choose to be if you dare to step into the unknown and – go for it.

  • CRAZY CAT LADY with Garrett Clancy

    Send us Fan Mail

This episode is not about me. Though many of you know, I have cats.  My podcast guest is filmmaker Garrett Clancy, who directed a wonderful new documentary currently in release, CRAZY CAT LADY.

It is said that documentaries are the new “cool” in visual storytelling, and this one is certainly a compelling one. A winner of multiple festivals and awards, it showcases a varied group of animal lovers who TSP (trap, spay, neuter) feral cats around Los Angeles and their personal journeys.

And you won’t see ladies in rollers. These animal lovers include college professors, young students, CPAs, veterinarians who offer pro-bono services, philanthropists, and well-meaning "cat collectors" -- AKA hoarders AKA "Crazy Cat Ladies" (and gentlemen).

In an insightful chat, we cover the inception of Garrett’s work,  how his experience in film was channeled into this story, and the challenges of making a doc on a shoestring budget for the love of animals and a greater purpose of bringing awareness to social legislation.

  • Winning the Life Game with Keith Mitchell

    Send us Fan Mail

Keith Mitchell is a star athlete and yogi, a former NFL player who played for the New Orleans Saints. He also was the NFL's highest draft player at the time but then he suffered a spinal injury that put an end to his football career and his life trajectory changed dramatically. Drawing from his physical and emotional healing through breathwork, yoga, and meditation he wrote a book “THE MINDFULNESS PLAYBOOK”. From that point, he has become a point of reference for holistic health and motivational coaching for several celebrities and Humanitarian organizations, including our very own First Lady Michelle Obama.

In this podcast, Keith and I discuss his life, his ever-expanding mission to help others reach their highest potential, and the importance of presence in every aspect of life through breathwork, and having a spiritual practice.   As he works on upcoming events, retreats, and courses inspired by his book, please make sure you check out his website. • Star Casting with Valerie Mc Caffrey

    Send us Fan Mail

Is Confidence what makes someone a Hollywood Star?  In today’s episode with a seasoned casting director, we dive deep into what is that elusive  X-Factor that allows an actor or actress to have a long-term career.  Valerie Mc Caffrey has cast 121 movies and discovered stars like Edward Norton when she cast him in American History X during her tenure at New Line Cinema. Since then she has expanded into executive producing and managing talent herself.  Just like me, she believes that if you are seasoned enough, you can be a multi-hyphenate. But always have a FIRST LOVE with your primary line of work.

This special episode is not just about casting,  although it does offer priceless advice about how to break into the Industry. Valerie and I have an intimate conversation about the women who are changing the Hollywood landscape with resilience and integrity and how securing talent helps or deters the financing of film and tv shows.
