Checkpoint Chat

This week on Checkpoint Chat, Matty is cleaning house in Pokemon Shield and reaching the end of his Dark Souls III run, while Sandy has dived back into Dead Cells and check out you new Diablo fix, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem.

Also buy two Monsters. Always.

Checkpoint Chat is back after a short sabbatical, but most of the games are the same. Sandy is still chipping away at Celeste while taking time to be a tablet ninja in Kunai, while Matty is getting good at Dark Souls III with some occasional breaks for Pokemon Shield.

If you're under 18, you can't have ice-cream. Sorry, that's the law.

It's been a busy festive season with Sandy recounting his time with Control and Ori and the Blind Forest, while Matty force pulls a lightsaber and slices through stormtroopers during his time with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

You didn't think we'd end the year without a Game of the Year? Matty and Sandy gather to discuss the ten best games they've each played this year, which doesn't apply exclusively to games that launched in 2019.

It's our podcast, we make the rules. Fight us.

This week on a special episode of Checkpoint Chat, Matty and Sandy are joined by a friend of the podcast, Neilan Naicker, who shares insights about his nine years at Naughty Dog, what it is a Technical Artist does and which project has been the most rewarding in his tenure.

Make sure to follow Neilan on Twitter (@Neilan), and his own fantastic podcast about incredible boardgames (@brdgamebarrage).

It's nearly the end of the year but Matty and Sandy are looking to let up just yet, with impressions on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and a genre combination indie title called Supermash. There's also loads of news to get through from State of Play, Nindies and The Game Awards.

Just don't pick a fight with an elephant this week.

This week on a chilly Checkpoint Chat, Sandy pulls out his crown to talk about King of Cards, the latest expansion to Shovel Knight, while Matty is off hunting ghosts in the amazing Luigi's Mansion 3.

Believe in the heart of the cards.

As the year draws to a close Matty continues to find new wonders to behold in Death Stranding, as Sandy finally finds a groove with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The pair then discuss good gaming drinks and why Nesquik is just the best.
