Sandy and Matty aren't as busy with new releases this week, with Matty finally getting his hands dirty with Mario Maker 2 and Sandy seeing just how bad Gears POP! can really be.

After a brief delay to avoid the embargo police, Sandy and Matty are here to fill you in on a host of brand spanking new games including Control, Astral Chain, Remnant: From the Ashes and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

When Matty and Sandy aren't debating the legitimacy of a Gucci cryptocurrency, the pair check in on the haunting puzzle platformer DARQ and the best smoke spots in Counter-Strike. Gamescom is also this week so the pair also discuss what to look out for.

In a distinctly retor-flavoured episode of Checkpoint Chat, Sandy checks in with the original DOOM now that it's out on Nintendo Switch, while Matty takes the chance to break down the first three Super Mario Bros. and explains why they're such classics.
