Chicago Bears Central

The Chicago Bears may not have made splashy moves in free agency, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t make impactful ones.

On this episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down why the Bears’ signing of Devin Bush is being called one of the BEST moves of free agency and what it says about Ryan Poles’ overall strategy.

🔥 Devin Bush is coming off a career year with:

• 3 interceptions (2 returned for TDs)

• Elite coverage numbers

• Strong run defense impact

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Bush fits perfectly in Dennis Allen’s Cover 2 defense, making him a potential game-changer at linebacker.

We also dive into:

🧠 Why Ryan Poles is being labeled a “success-builder” GM

🧱 The Bears’ disciplined approach to building depth instead of overspending

👀 Why Jedrick Wills Jr. could be a sneaky important signing at left tackle

🔄 Potential trades the Bears could still make, including names like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Jonathan Greenard, and Jalin Hyatt

The Bears may not have “won headlines”…

But they may have set themselves up for something bigger.

Let’s break it all down.

The Chicago Bears secondary is going through a major transformation — and general manager Ryan Poles finally addressed why the team chose not to re-sign All-Pro safety Kevin Byard.

On this episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down the Bears’ first wave of free agency and what it means for the future of Chicago’s defense.

Despite leading the NFL with 33 takeaways last season, the Bears have lost multiple key defensive backs including:

❌ Kevin Byard

❌ Jaquan Brisker

❌ C.J. Gardner-Johnson

❌ Nahshon Wright

❌ Jonathan Owens

Chicago did bring in Super Bowl champion safety Coby Bryant, but the Bears still have a massive question mark in the secondary.

With four picks in the top 89 of the 2026 NFL Draft, Ryan Poles could be preparing to rebuild the safety room through the draft with prospects like:

• Emmanuel McNeil-Warren

• Dillon Thieneman

• A.J. Haulcy

We’ll also break down the biggest winners and losers from Bears free agency, including why some underrated signings — like Cam Lewis — may end up being bigger than fans realize.

Is Ryan Poles quietly setting up the Bears for a huge draft strategy?

Let’s talk about it.
