Frank Pellico manned the organ at both the old Chicago Stadium and the United Center for more than three decades. One of his most memorable performances came before the 1991 NHL All-Star game in Chicago, when he played the National Anthem before a raucous, cheering crowd. Back then he accompanied Wayne Messmer, but for his final decade or so, it was Jim Cornelison. Pellico was known for wearing a #61 jersey in the organ booth. That number signified the number of keys on a standard organ. He retired in February.

Duncan Keith was one of the foundational pieces of the Blackhawks Stanley Cup teams. Drafted in 2002, he broke in with the Hawks 3 years late. In 2010, he won the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman, the first Blackhawk to win it since Chris Chelios, 14 years earlier.  He would win it again in 2014. In 2015, Keith won the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP in the Blackhawks’ 3rd run to the Cup in 6 years. Only Stan Mikita played more games as a Blackhawk than Keith, who retired in 2022 after 17 years in the NHL.

Today we profile defensemen Pat Stapleton.  Nicknamed “Whitey”, he was a mainstay on the Blackhawks blueline during the 60s. Despite being only 5’8, he excelled as a defensemen appearing in four All-Star games and 2 Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1971 and 1973.  Stapleton also served as Captain of the Blackhawks during the 1969-1970 season. Stapleton skated 8 season with the Blackhawks, compiling a +201 in 545 games.
