As we, at WGN Radio, prepare to welcome the Chicago Blackhawks into the “Century Club,” we are celebrating Chicago’s Original 6 hockey organization by highlighting over 100 players, coaches, executives, broadcasters and personalities that have been a part of Blackhawks’ 100-year history. Every weekday leading up to and through the 2025-26 season, you will hear about a different all-time Blackhawks figure in both the morning and afternoon WGN Radio sports reports, and here on WGNRadio.com. Several eras of Chicago hockey will be represented in our profiles, voiced by Dave Eanet, Andy Masur, Charlie Roumeliotis, Kevin Powell and Jack Heinrich.
We previously covered Alexei Zhamonv. Next up:
Reg Kerr
Reginald John Kerr, simply known as “Reg” to Hawks fans, came to Chicago in 1977 after being traded from the Cleveland Barons. Kerr spent five seasons with the Blackhawks and scored a career-high 30 goals with 30 assists during the 1980–81 season. Kerr left the organization in 1982 and spent one season in the AHL, before signing with the Edmonton Oilers, but he was assigned back to the AHL and played just three games for the Oilers. Kerr retired at the end of that season. In total, Kerr played 263 NHL games all but 10 came with the Hawks. He scored all 66 of his career goals in a Hawks sweater.
