This is a mantra of Lord Shiva, found in the Rudram portion of the Vedas.

It is - “Om Namaste Astu Bhagavan Vishveshvaraya Mahadevaya Tryambakaya Tripurantakaya Trikalagnikalaya Kalagnirudraya Neelakanthaya Mrityunjayaya Sarveshvaraya Sriman Mahadevaya Namaha”

It means - “I salute the Lord who is the Lord of the Universe, the Lord of lords, Three eyed one, who destroyed the three cities(Waking, Dream, Deepsleep), the Lord of time(Past, Present, Future), the Lord of destruction, Blue-Necked one, Master of Death, Lord of All Beings, to that Great Lord is my salutation.”

We begin with the visualisation of Lord Mrityunjaya, followed by Japa of the Maha-Mrityunjaya Mantra 54 times and concluding with contemplation on the mantra.

In every situation of life we have to choose between Shreyas and Preyas. Wise person chooses Shreyas over Preyas. Majority chooses Preyas due to acquiring n protecting tendencis. Lord Yama praises Nachiketa for his vairagya and for choosing the path of Shreyas

Lord Yama praises the clarity and conviction of Nachiketa. Nachiketa has dropped the desires, sense objects and pleasurable thoughts which many revel in. He has reflected on the limitations of the sense objects had had the courage to drop them. He is a seeker of Knowledge. The path of ignorance and the path of knowledge are wide apart, opposite and lead to different results. Nachiketa walks the path of Knowledge and Lord Yama is pleased with him for that.
