Though avidya or ignorance is the root cause for bondage, Ego, the first modification of ignorance is another vital cause for transmigration. Hence this is a word of caution to not identify with the ego and to use the intellect to transcend the ego instead. If there is no doership then there is no enjoyer, no sufferer. For liberation, the ego sense has to be totally eliminated, revealing the effulgent glorious state of the Self.

The lord of the Ganas. The Lord of Nandi, Bhringi, Riti, Mahākāla and other Ganas.

This name can be seen in connection with the previous name Veerabhadra also. Veerabhadra - the Lord of the Ganas.

One who is in the form of Ganapati - the elephant faced Lord. By the Vedic logic, son is a part of the father.

Gana means groups of people. Like devagana - the group of gods , rishigana - group or a collection of rishis etc . Lord Shiva who is the lord of all groups and collection of people is called by the name Gananaathaha.

This name is praised in the Vedas गणेभ्यो गणपतिभ्यश्च वो नम: gaṇēbhyō gaṇapatibhyaṡca vō namaha

गणानां त्वा गणपतिं हवामहे gaṇānāṃ tvā gaṇapatiṃ havāmahē

The perceived world of objects, emotions and thoughts, including the perceived, the ego, the ‘I’ entity, being of the nature of change, are all false. The Real ‘I’, the ultimate observer, the uninvolved witness, is explained through various attributes. Hence renounce the ego and the Jiva bhava, along with vanities of family, name, fame, position and abide in unbroken Bliss, akhanda bodhanam.

Veerabhadra - Veera – heroic. Bhadra – auspicious. Veerabhadra had all these qualities by birth and hence he got his name . Veerabhadra is one of the Ganas of lord Shiva. He was created to destroy the yagnya of Daksha prajapati.

चतुर्भुजं त्रिनेत्रं च जटामुक्टसंयुतं

दक्षिणे खड्गबाणौच वामे चाप गदाधरं

दंष्ट्राकरालवदनं भीमं भैरवगर्जितं

रुण्डमालासमायुक्तं पादुकोपरिसंस्थितं

caturbhujaṃ trinetraṃ ca jaṭāmukṭasaṃyutaṃ

dakṣiṇe khaḍgabāṇauca vāme cāpa gadādharaṃ daṃṣṭrākarālavadanaṃ bhīmaṃ bhairavagarjitaṃ ruṇḍamālāsamāyuktaṃ pādukoparisaṃsthitaṃ

There are many forms of veerabhadra , one form as described in Shritattvanidhi is given here . He has four arms , three eyes , has long twisted locks of hair . He holds sword and arrow in his right hands , bow and mace in his left hands . He has terrific teeth , he is fierce and makes fierce roars . He wears a garland of headless bodies and has footwear.

To end the false identification, the mumukshu has to shift his attention and drop attachment to the subtle body, the linga sharira. He should look at the world as an illusion and a reflection of the Infinite. Having woken up to understand his nature of satchitananda, he is to revel in his Supreme State instead of the sorrow-filled samsara and drop the identification completely. Hold on to the Reality and then play all the roles.

Continuing the methods to end the superimposition, the seeker is further advised to regard the body as that which is a bundle of dirt and filth and hence negate it for his true divine nature of Pure Consciousness. Adi Shankaracharya ji says to reject body identification and merge with Brahman, and realise the state of unbroken bliss and happiness, which is the substratum of the whole world.

Vishveshwaraha: The Lord of the whole universe. Lord Shiva is the Supreme Reality who is the Lord of many universes or the Lord of the Multiverse.

A man of contemplation having reflected on the maha vakya Tat Twam Asi, remains single pointedly absorbed in Brahman, denying all the superimpositions till Jiva bhava finally ends in the state of nirvikalpa samadhi. The seeker must be alert to all distractions from within, out of tamas or inadvertence, as well as from outside, out of Rajas.

This talk starts with an assurance to the seeker to be fearless and steady in his contemplation, knowing that the karmaphala will maintain and sustain the body. Instead of increasing the vasana pressure again, he is advised to do his sadhana and negate the not-Self or the anatma. The seeker is cautioned to stay alert to all sense temptations and to fearlessly rely on the knowledge of the scriptures and his own experiential reality.

This talk exhaustively discusses the way to end the false superimposed identity of the Jiva bhava. Once the seeker steadily abides in the Supreme Self in the seat of meditation his psychological mind ends and with it, all his vasanas. Developing a sattvik personality and abiding in vishuddha sattva is the means to end dehatma bhava and this is explained step wise in great detail.
