Talk 103 Verses 358-362

Through the conditionings of the BMI, the upadhi, the Pure Consciousness appears as though diverse. However once the false identification has been dissolved, the wise man transcends duality and realises Brahman in the state of nirvikalpa samadhi. Single pointed, steady contemplation in a mind, devoid of all extrovertedness is essential for the mumukshu to gain liberation. The pure subtle Truth is imperceptible through all organs of perception and can be realised in a subtle mind cleansed of all impurities.

Talk 102 - Verses 354- 357

The dvaita bhav is created by the dosha of the buddhi and this false identification is removed in samadhi avastha through the effulgence of the non-dual Self. When the deluded intellect is propelled by the vasanas to act, the sense of I ness and my ness arise, further projecting the ego centric world of plurality, in which the Jiva is hopelessly bound. The personality adjustments required for the mumukshu to attain liberation are also discussed.

Talk 101: Verses 347-353

The power of knowledge completely destroys avidya and one gets the vision of oneness and liberation from transmigration. With the advaita bhav, both non apprehension and misapprehension end along with the destruction of the illusory jivabhav and the sorrows of samsara. Created through the combination of matter and spirit, when the buddhi rises, the ego sense and the PFT arise resulting in jivabhav. However there is only the one Pure Consciousness which enlivens the inert world of matter, and can be experienced as eternal Absolute Bliss.

Anaghaha: Agha means sin. Anagha means One who has no sins or sorrows . He is ātman. He has no sins. He is free of impurities. He is free from death and has no sorrow.

Self-insulting action is sin. Compromise is Sin. Breaking dharma is sin. Selfishness is sin. Doing what should not be done and not doing what should be done causes agitations and regrets. That is sin.

The Lord has no doership. Hence no punya and paapa. He is Sinless though He destroyed a sacrifice, or killed Tripurasuras etc. because he has no doership.

Doership is born out of body-identification. The Lord is beyond body-identification. Hence he is beyond doership and sin.

Talk 100 - Verses 344 to 346

This talk covers the power of veiling as the cause of the endless sorrows creating agitation in each individual seeker. Verse 345 has emphasis on the habit of discrimination as the only way to removing this delusion. Verse 346 reinforces the importance of the right knowledge arising out of discrimination, to understand the subject and the object and ultimately realize the Self.

This is the 3rd form of ekadasha Rudra

Girisha गिरौ शेते इति गिरिश : One who lives in mount ( kailaasa ). He protects it and becomes the cause of its glory.

Sha also means one who can bend something. The Lord used Meru as the Bow, Vishnu as arrow, Sun and moon as wheels of the chariot, earth was chariot and Brahmaji was charioteer. The Lord bent Meru mountain to use it as a bow.

Giri also means Vedas . One who is seated on the head of the Vedas ( i.e . ) one who is praised with great respect by the vedas . One who is the soul of the Vedas and is to be known only through the Vedas.

Also means one who shows the mountain as weighhtless . ( i.e . ) by lifting the mount meru as his bow , he makes the mountain as weightless, due to his strength and lifting capacity it seems like that .

This name is praised in the rudra prashna of krishna yajurveda . नमो गिरिशायच शिपिविष्टायच namō giriṡāyaca ṡipiviṣṭāyaca

Salutations to the one who stays in the mountains and who is the enlivener of all jeevas or living beings.

This talk continues with the attaining of the spiritual vision of oneness: Verse 341 discusses how and why it is not possible for the many to gain this state of perfect vision of oneness. Further, advice is given for the seeker to make himself fit for the spiritual experience by cultivating the six-fold wealth. Verse 343 introduces the importance of nirvikalpa samadhi.

Giri means a mountain. Ishaha – the Lord. The Supreme Lord Shiva is the Lord of all great mountains like Himalayas, Meru, Mandara, Kailasa etc. In Harivamsha in a conversation between sage naarada and the mountains it is said:

ब्रम्हर्षे न वयं धन्या : नाप्याश्चर्याणि सन्ति न :

अस्माकमीश्वर : शूली गेरीषो वृषभध्वज :

नाश्चर्यो वापि धन्यो वा तस्मात्परतरो भुवि

O Bramha rishi ! We cannot be more thankful nor are we surprised. Our Lord is Shooli (one who holds the trident) gireesha - Lord of the mountains, vrushabhadhvaja - one who has the bull flag. There is nothing more surprising and nothing more to be thankful for, than the fact that he is our Lord. There is no other big surprise or nothing more to be thankful for than for him in the world .

A mountain is steady and still. Life on the mountains is hard. It also symbolises the entire spiritual journey.

Giri also means the world. Isha - the Lord. Gireesha means the Lord of the world or the Lord who is the world.

These verses give a narration of the experience of a liberated man. It emphasizes the Supreme Self which is the essence of all the beings. Verse 340 suggests sadhana practices to expand the spiritual vision in the seeker to experience the totality as one’s own Self and the recognition of the universe as the Self.

Talk 97 - Verse 334-338

This Talk covers verses teaching us to withdraw from the world and fix our mind on the Self through dedication and devotion. They logically describe step by step the withdrawal from the body, mind and intellect by having the witness attitude and ultimately removing worldliness and realizing the Truth. The talk concludes by saying there is no liberation for one who is attached to the body and there is no identification with the body for one who is liberated.
