A busy full-time working mother of two teenage boys with a background in science, Carrie Schuler likes to spend her Saturdays enjoying the beautiful surf beaches that South-East Queensland has to offer. Whilst trying to enjoy the beach, Carrie identified a problem with limited access to facilities that offered a convenient, hygienic and private setting whilst getting dressed at the beach for her surfing activities. The public facilities rarely have benches to place clean clothes on and are often used heavily throughout the day (yuck!). Additionally, surfing at popular beaches often means that the nearby car parks are full. Carrie often felt embarrassed and flustered when drivers would approach in their car and ask if she would be leaving soon so they could have her car park, and watch whilst she finished getting dressed. Carrie became obsessed with finding a solution, put her science brain to task and went about designing an outdoor privacy curtain that attaches to her car to make her feel safe, clean and secure behind whilst getting dressed - BootiBlind®. Whilst busily working away at progressing BootiBlind® to product stage, little did Carrie realise she was entering the challenging and exciting world of entrepreneurship.
