Know your Purpose: Then Get Busy!

My affirmation card today said “I am a spirit having a human experience and I’m here to get close to love.” - In reality, we are all just spirits here on this temporary home waiting for the day we go to Heaven. First we have a job to do, first we have a purpose to fulfill.

We are all put here on this earth for a specific reason. A purpose you can say. We may not all know or understand that purpose right away and it takes some time usually to figure it out. Today I want to help you do just that.

Get out a a piece of paper and write, draw, journal and get clear on your purpose so you can go out there and make an impact on this world with the time you have!


1. What is that you LOVE?
2. What is it that the world needs?
3. What is it that you can be paid for?
4. What is it that you are good at?
Find the sweet spot and live there!

To be a person is to have a story to tell.

Stories bring us together & we not only exchange stories to connect, but we are also characters in each other’s stories. When we can see how our past stories have shaped us into who we are now, we can better align ourselves with where we are wanting to go in the future. We can live more purposefully and live the kind of life that we will give our own story meaning.

Viewing our lives as a narrative invites us to learn from our lives, helps us make sense of our life and offers us choices/possibilities for change in our lives.

I want to be the kind of person who actively pursues God, intentionally stays on course and refuses to yield to fear and anxiety.

Is it possible to end the year with hope?
It is that time of the year when people evaluate the last twelve months of their lives and plan for the next twelve.
I am in a reflective season myself, thinking about the dreams that came to pass this year. And those that did not.

1. Allow hope to birth big expectation!
2. Be the kind of person who agrees with God – who declares life, not defeat.
3. Be the kind of person who notices what God has already done and cultivates an attitude of gratitude.

The best foundation for great goal setting is a solid personal end of year reflection. Even if you haven’t seriously planned out any goals previously, you should really spend some time looking back on what has or hasn’t been working for you in the past. Once you have an idea of where you are succeeding, or have opportunities for growth, you can set more specific and focused goals for the future.

So how does one start reflecting on 365 days? It starts with asking good questions;
Start with the past year’s highlights
Reflect on what worked well
What could you have improved on?
What are you grateful for?
What did you do last year that will benefit you in 5-50 years from now? 
Having a better idea of where you’ve been and what went well/not so well will set you up for success going forward. Next time we’ll discuss how to write new goals for the upcoming year!
