In this remarkably laidback but quite researched episode, Chris and Sarah are slightly dusty from the night before. Sarah brings an article about the importance of a pretty frock in finding a husband, and they decide that promenading (dressing up and strolling by the sea as a social activity) needs to come back in a major way. Sarah goes down a rabbit hole about Australian divorce law and they discover South Australia is kind of progressive. Chris brings an article about migration in the 60’s and they talk about their adventurous mums moving overseas in the 70’s.
Sarah’s article is from The Express and Telegraph (Adelaide, SA: 1867-1922), Saturday 10th October 1908, page 5 - “Caught by A Pretty Dress: Good Bait for Men.”
Chris’s article is from The Bulletin, Wednesday 1st February 1961, page 8 - "Plain English: Not so mobile Donna"
Chris used The National Museum of Australia and the National Archive of Australia in her research.
Sarah used the Australian Human Rights Commission website, and a Book Review from the UNSW Law journal.
