In Episode 5 of our 2 Peter series, we explore 2 Peter 3:1–14 and Peter's warning that in the last days "mockers" or empaiktēs—those who ridicule and dismiss God's promises—will arise. We consider how this spirit of cynicism and scepticism is increasingly evident in our society and, perhaps surprisingly, often among older generations who have experienced disappointment, loss, and disillusionment. Yet Peter calls believers to resist cynicism, remember God's faithfulness, and live with hope, holiness, and expectancy as we await the return of Christ. This episode is an encouragement to keep our hearts tender, our faith alive, and our eyes fixed on the God who is patient, faithful, and true to every promise He has made.

We examine Peter's description of himself as a doulos—a slave who belongs completely to Jesus Christ—and consider why he places servanthood before apostleship. In this episode I want to look ahead and ask a question many believers are asking right now: from a Biblical and prophetic perspective, where might events in the Middle East be heading? Now right at the outset, I want to acknowledge that this is a controversial subject. There are sincere Bible-believing Christians who read these passages differently. We also need to say clearly that when we try to connect current events to prophecy, there is always the danger of moving from careful interpretation into speculation

When we look at the rise of radical Islamic movements — particularly in places like Iran and in militant groups throughout the Middle East — we begin to see something that reveals the deeper nature of this deception. What becomes visible is not simply a political ideology or a religious movement. What we see is a spiritual system built around control, domination, and submission. And when we compare that with the message revealed in the Gospels and throughout the New Testament, the contrast could not be clearer.

In this episode we to take the discussion a little deeper. Because if we’re going to understand the times we’re living in, we need to recognise that what we are seeing in the world is not just political conflict or cultural tension. According to Scripture, there is a deeper spiritual battle unfolding behind the events of history. When Jesus spoke about the future in Matthew chapter 24, the first warning He gave His disciples was not about war or disaster. It was about deception.

In this episode we look at the current conflict in the Middle East and we see increasing hostility toward Israel. Iran openly calls for Israel’s destruction. Radical groups like Hamas and Hezbollah declare that Israel must be removed from the land. Jerusalem is at the centre of global religious tension. Many observers see this as a political conflict. But the Bible teaches us that there is a struggle that is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” In other words, behind political conflict there is a spiritual conflict.
