The Gospel is inclusive rather than exclusive and should be indiscriminately proclaimed to the poor AND the rich, those in prison AND those who are free, the sick AND the physically healthy, the oppressed AND even the oppressor.

Jesus is a real man.  He is the real son of God.  And our hope is not in anyone or anything other than Him.  He alone saves us from our sin, transcends our differences, and unites us.

This text isn’t as romantic or sentimental; it’s definitely not as sensational as the previous text.  But it is just as important.

Christmas is about “Good News of Great Joy”.  Oh how the shepherds needed good news, and so do we.

Christ set His glory aside so that He could draw near to us, dwell with us, as one of us, for us.

Mary’s song should be our song because we are recipients of God’s mercy, we are Abraham’s spiritual offspring, to use Paul’s language from Galatians, and there is no greater thing He could do for us than what He has already done for us in and through Christ.
