From the ends of the earth I call out to You whenever my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. — Psalm 61:2

When your heart is overwhelmed, there's only one place to go — to the Rock that's higher than you are. You can't climb your way up to safety on your own. Christ is that Rock, a strength to the poor and a refuge from the storm. No one can snatch you out of His hand, and this hope is an anchor for the soul, both sure and steadfast, entering the presence behind the veil. Cast all your anxiety on Him — He cares for you.

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last, — Revelation 1:17

John fell at Christ's feet as dead, but the risen Lord laid His right hand on him and said, Fear not; I am the first and the last. You haven't come to a terrifying mountain of fire and darkness, but to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God. We have a great High Priest who's been tempted in every way we are, yet without sin — so we can approach the throne of grace with confidence. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. Don't be afraid.

“Some of you I overthrew as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were like a firebrand snatched from a blaze, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD. — Amos 4:11

What a picture of sovereign grace — you were a firebrand plucked out of the burning, snatched from the fire by nothing but the hand of God. The wages of sin is death, and it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. But God, who delivered us from so great a death, still delivers. Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord. You weren't saved because you were worth saving — you were saved because He is merciful.

Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. — 2 Peter 3:8-9

Peter tells us not to be ignorant of this: the Lord's timing isn't our timing. One day is as a thousand years to Him, and a thousand years as one day — He's not slow, He's patient, not willing that any should perish. His thoughts aren't your thoughts, and His ways are higher than yours. Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments.

I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” — Luke 18:8

Jesus asks a sobering question: when He returns, will He find faith on the earth? He came to His own, and His own didn't receive Him, and the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith. But the question isn't meant to paralyze you — it's meant to wake you up. Watch, stand fast in the faith, and keep looking for that blessed hope, because the Lord who promised is faithful. He's not slack concerning His promise.

Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and Ashtoreths among you, prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only. And He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” — 1 Samuel 7:3

Samuel calls Israel to whole-hearted return — put away the strange gods, prepare your hearts, serve Him only. It's not that your resolve saves you, but genuine faith always turns from idols. The Lord searches every heart and knows every intention; He desires truth in the inward parts. Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, and He'll be a Father to you — not because you earned it, but because His grace makes you His own.

So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. — Judges 6:24

Gideon named the altar Jehovah-Shalom — the Lord is Peace — and he built it right after staring his own weakness and God's call in the face. The peace the world offers is fragile, but Christ is our peace, the Prince of Peace promised in whose government and peace have no end. He gives you a peace the world can't give and can't take away. When the Lamb conquers, it's the peace of His finished work that silences every accusation.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, — Galatians 5:22

Joy isn't something you manufacture — it's fruit, grown by the Spirit. The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, which means this joy doesn't depend on your circumstances. It intimately: sorrowful yet always rejoicing, poor yet making many rich. Even Jesus, for the joy set before Him, endured the cross. Your joy is rooted in what Christ has already done and secured, not in how you feel today.

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? — 2 Corinthians 6:14

Paul's question cuts to the heart of the believer's identity — light and darkness have no fellowship. You were once darkness, but now you're light in the Lord; Christ came as the Light of the world so whoever believes in Him wouldn't walk in darkness. The Gospel doesn't just clean you up — it transfers you out of one kingdom and into another. So don't yoke yourself to what Christ has already delivered you from. The love of God and the love of the world simply can't coexist.

And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4:19

My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. He who didn't spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all — how will He not also graciously give us all things?. All things are yours, and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's. As sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich.
