For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life. — Ephesians 2:10

We are God's workmanship. Not our own. We're not self-made people. We're being built into a spiritual house, fitted together as a holy temple in the Lord. The same God who created the heavens is shaping us—cutting, fitting, polishing living stones. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that he prepared beforehand. He's the potter; we're the clay. Let him work.

God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. — 1 Corinthians 1:9

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Your salvation doesn't rest on your grip on God, but on His grip on you. He called you, and He who calls is faithful. The fellowship we're called into isn't a Sunday handshake—it's communion with the living God through His Son. It's sharing in Christ's sufferings and His glory. It's being rooted and grounded in love, filled with all the fullness of God. And God won't let you go.

“If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in a peaceful land, how will you do in the thickets of the Jordan? — Jeremiah 12:5

A searching question: 'how will you do in the thickets of the Jordan?' if you've stumbled in a peaceful land, what will you do when the flood comes? The swelling of jordan is a picture of death—the final enemy that every one of us must face. But for the believer, the jordan waters part. Joshua's feet touched the flood and it stopped. Christ has gone through the swelling tide ahead of us. When you walk through the waters, he will be with you. The shepherd walks with his sheep through the valley of the shadow.

But I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my helper and deliverer; O my God, do not delay. — Psalm 40:17

David's prayer hits a raw note: 'you are my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, o my God'. He's in a hurry, and he's honest about it. But he also knows his poverty—'i am poor and needy'—and that's exactly who the Lord helps. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and though he falls, he won't be utterly cast down. Fear not, for God is with you; don't be dismayed, for he is your God. He will not fail nor forsake you. He may tarry in your timing, but he's never late.

For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. — Ephesians 2:18

This is the trinitarian shape of prayer. Christ is the door, the spirit is the guide, and the Father is the welcoming embrace. Jesus said, 'whatever you ask in my name, that i will do'. We have boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way. There's no more veil. No more priest needed. Through Christ, in the spirit, we cry 'abba, Father.'.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, — Ephesians 5:25,26

Christ loved the church and gave himself for her, that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word. Notice the motive: love. Notice the price: himself. Notice the goal: a holy, radiant bride. He doesn't just forgive the church—he cleanses her. The word is the instrument: Jesus prayed, 'Sanctify them by the truth; Your word is truth'. The same word that washes regenerates. He gave himself so we'd be presented without spot or wrinkle. What a savior.

Please run out now to meet her and ask, ‘Are you all right? Is your husband all right? Is your child all right?’” And she answered, “Everything is all right.” — 2 Kings 4:26

The shunammite woman answered a question nobody would've blamed her for getting wrong: 'is it well with you? It is well'. Her Son had just died, but she spoke faith before she saw the answer. That's not denial—it's confidence in the God who raises the dead. We who believe speak. Though outwardly wasting away, inwardly we're being renewed day by day. Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, yet possessing everything. It is well with my soul.

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. — 2 Corinthians 7:10

There's a sorrow that kills and a sorrow that heals. Peter wept bitterly after denying Christ, and that sorrow led him back to Jesus. Judas felt remorse too—but it led him to a noose. The difference? Godly sorrow runs to the cross, not away from it. It agrees with God, confesses sin, trusts the blood that cleanses, and produces the fruits of repentance. If your sorrow drives you to Christ, it's the right kind.

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. — 1 Corinthians 6:11

Three words in that change everything: washed, sanctified, justified. Not by anything you did—'such were some of you.' but you were washed in the blood of the lamb, sanctified by the spirit through the word, and justified freely by his grace. It's a complete work. There's no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The filthy sinner is washed clean. The unholy is set apart. The guilty is declared righteous. All because of him.

He led them safely, so they did not fear, but the sea engulfed their enemies. — Psalm 78:53

It wasn't their navigation skills; it was his leading. He went before them in the pillar of cloud and fire. In all their affliction, he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. He leads the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. The same shepherd leads you today.
