And now, O LORD God, confirm forever the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house. Do as You have promised, — 2 Samuel 7:25

David's prayer in is breathtaking in its simplicity: 'do as you hast said.' he took God at his word. The whole christian life hangs on that—believing that what God has promised, he is faithful to perform. The word is settled in heaven, and by these great and precious promises we become partakers of the divine nature. When you can't see the way, you can still trust the one who made the promise. He cannot lie, and his anchors hold within the veil.

So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts. — Zechariah 4:6

Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord. That's the death blow to every scheme of self-reliance in the christian life. God chose the weak things to shame the strong so nobody can boast. The wind of the spirit blows where it wishes, and new birth doesn't come from human will or effort. Whatever God builds, he builds through his spirit. Our part is to lean into him and trust the work to the one who finishes what he starts.

Catch for us the foxes—the little foxes that ruin the vineyards—for our vineyards are in bloom. — SONG2:15

It's the little foxes that spoil the vines—not the obvious, dramatic sins, but the small compromises nobody notices. A careless word, a bitter thought nursed in secret, a little neglect of prayer. These are the things that choke the tender grapes of spiritual growth. The Psalmist prayed to be cleansed from secret faults, and Hebrews warns against any root of bitterness springing up to defile many. Keep short accounts with God. Let your speech be seasoned with grace, and trust the Author and Finisher to complete what He started.

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. — Lamentations 3:26

Nobody's naturally good at that. When God seems silent and our prayers bounce off the ceiling, we're tempted to force things. But the Lord hasn't forgotten—he's working on a timetable that's better than ours. He will answer his elect speedily, but in his way. The call is to be still, to wait, and to let God be God. As it, ' not be weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.'.

And David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of every man grieved for his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the LORD his God. — 1 Samuel 30:6

When David's own men talked of stoning him, he 'encouraged himself in the Lord his God'. He didn't look inward or downward—he looked up. That's what faith does when circumstances scream the opposite. Peter, when many disciples turned back, said, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life'. Paul knew whom he had believed and was persuaded of his keeping power. The psalms are full of this pattern—crying out, then remembering, then praising. It's not mindless optimism; it's deliberate trust in a covenant-keeping God.

His mouth is most sweet; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem. — Song of Solomon 5:16

The bride in song of Solomon couldn't find words big enough: 'he is altogether lovely'. That's the heart's response when Christ shows up in his beauty. Peter calls him a precious cornerstone to those who believe, and the psalmist says he's fairer than the children of men. God has highly exalted him and given him a name above every name, and in him all the fullness of God dwells. Those who've tasted and seen—who count everything loss for the excellence of knowing Christ—they're the ones who say, 'he is altogether lovely.'.

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you. — Luke 10:19

Scripture doesn't mince words about the enemy. He prowls like a lion, but he's a defeated one. James says resist him and he'll flee—and the way we resist is by putting on the whole armor of God. You're not left to fight in your own strength. It plainly: 'rejoice not against me, o my enemy; when i fall, i shall arise; though I sit in darkness, the LORD will be my light.' the victory's already secured at the cross.

He saw that there was no man; He was amazed that there was no one to intercede. So His own arm brought salvation, and His own righteousness sustained Him. — Isaiah 59:16

Stops us cold: God looked around, saw no one willing or able to intercede for his people, and so he did it himself. No angel, no prophet, no priest could bridge the gap—so the Lord's own arm brought salvation. This is the heart of the Gospel. The Father sent his Son with a body prepared for him, and Jesus laid down his life of his own accord. There is salvation in no one else, and it comes to us free, because Christ became poor so we might be rich.

So please come now and put a curse on this people, because they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I may be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land; for I know that those you bless are blessed, and those you curse are cursed.” — Numbers 22:6

Balaam's testimony against his own greedy heart—'those you bless are blessed'—puts God's sovereign blessing on display. Nobody earns or bargains for it; God blesses whom he chooses to bless, and his blessing sticks. And where do we see that blessing most clearly? In the beatitudes, where Christ pronounces blessing on the poor in spirit, the mourners, the meek—people who've stopped trying to earn anything. The truly blessed are those who hear God's word and keep it, and who are written into the lamb's book of life. It's all of grace, from start to finish.

This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases.” — Matthew 8:17

Matthew looks at Jesus healing the sick and says, "He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases". He's quoting —the suffering servant who carries our griefs. Every healing was a down payment on the final healing accomplished on the cross. The great physician became the patient so you could be healed.
