In Genesis chapter 18 we learn a great deal about intercessory prayer. When a person intercedes for someone else they forget about their own needs and they focus specifically on that other person’s needs. Abraham models this type of prayer for us as he intercedes on behalf of other people, especially his family. My desire is that God will raise up people, like Abraham, who will take it upon themselves to stand in the gap for others.

It has been said, “preparation is a key to success.” So, how can we prepare for what God longingly desires to do in our lives? Jesus’ teaching in Mark 4 regarding the sower, seed and soil give us some insight. What does Jesus want to sow into our lives? Let’s be ready!

The beginning of the Christian walk somewhat parallels that of a baby's first steps. It's wobbly at first, then you learn what's needed to keep your balance. In Genesis, Chapter 17, we are going to see how Abraham responds to God, even when there were 13 years of silence with no new instructions from the Lord.
