In our society, being called a loser is the ultimate indignity. For most people, winning is everything, and if it’s not everything, it still beats losing. I want to suggest to you that winning isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. We are going to see how the flip side of winning—known as losing, can benefit our lives in tremendous ways.

How can we make sure that we are seeing the bigger picture in our life situations? How does having the bigger picture affect how we live today? The Old Testament book of Joshua gives us the answers to these questions. The challenge will be to open our eyes to God’s presence and intentional involvement so we can see things from His perspective.

David shows us how by giving three qualities that we must develop in our lives. If we follow his advice, we won’t have to make every good thing happen in our life. God will work on our behalf, behind the scenes, and make things happen according to His plan.

What does Jesus think of me? Our thinking of who we are cannot be shaped by our culture, our human nature, or the opinions of others. It must be shaped Biblically. This is critical in our current day: establishing Biblically correct thinking about ourselves. This message will be of great value for us all!

The church at Laodicea was the saddest of the seven churches addressed by Christ. It was a lukewarm, indifferent church. Many Bible students believe that Laodicea represents the last period in history before the Lord comes, which makes this letter of Christ so very interesting to us who are alive today and who believe the signs of the Lord’s return are evident everywhere.

In Revelation, chapters 2 and 3, Jesus addresses seven churches, which represent the different kinds of churches that you would have in any age. Only two of these churches were highly commended in Jesus’ final analysis of them. Philadelphia was specifically commended for their faithfulness. What God requires is very, very simple.
