The Bible explains that this evil is simply human nature. The problem is that, under the right provocations, we all commit evils in various ways.

Since we’re all corrupt, we need Jesus – and Jesus alone – to address the issues of this world in true righteousness.

Just because something is genuinely good doesn’t mean it will be received by all. Peter’s point is that not everyone thinks that the goodness of God through Jesus Christ is really good. We will look at what the scriptures say about this.

Verse: 1 Peter 2:7-8

As believers, the Bible assures the children of God that we have been equipped with an eternal purpose and the power to accomplish His purpose.

Today’s episode explains our spiritual purpose in the Lord and to explain the benefits of the freedom we have in the Lord to do what He says.

What good is freedom if it’s not exercised?

What good is power if it’s not used?

The Bible explains that the people of God should be changed by the work that God has done to connect us with Him through Jesus. He has implanted Himself as Father and Son in our hearts to change and influence our souls by His Spirit. This is not a small thing.

Those who are beneficiaries of this work according to faith in it should be affected by it. 

Are the desires of our life according to the faith that our Father has implanted in us by His Spirit? Or, are the desires of our life according to the influence of our earthly father figures?

Verse: 1 Peter 2:2-3

The Bible teaches that one of God’s name is Jehovah Nissi – the Lord Our Banner. In other words, He is our flag that we hold up to express our unified effort to celebrate certain principles and standards.

Christians are called to live in a certain manner in order to identify our heritage or citizenship. Since our citizenship is heavenly, according to God’s own likeness, we as God’s people are called to hold up the identity of the Lord above our flesh in order that He would be glorified.

To pick this banner up, requires us to put the banner of our selfish ambition down, which is why this episode is called, Put It Down & Walk Away. 

Verse - 1 Peter 2:1

In 1 Peter 1:24-25 the Bible reminds believers that our hope is not necessarily in the things of this life. The Bible promises suffering of various kinds and the world will reject the followers of Jesus Christ.

Our hope is in the eternal nature of God’s unconditional promises. It is our remembrance of eternal things that will enable to people of God to endure the difficulties of this life with joy and satisfaction.

So, in today’s study, we’ll take a look at how the emphasis of God’s promises are eternal, which was communicated in both the Old AND the New Testaments.

Verse - 1 Peter 1:24-25

The Apostle Peter explained that the church has been born again. Jesus explained that one cannot inherit the kingdom of God unless one is “born again.” We will discuss this in our study today.

When the people of God love it should look a particular way and have an effect.

Obedience is tied to this and is only made possible when our conduct is motivated and driven by the Holy Spirit.
