  • Great Disciples of Christ - Dietrich Bonhoeffer - The Pastor Who Became A Spy and Gave His Life for Christ

It's been said that you haven't really lived until you've found something worth dying for. For Bonhoeffer that was Christ and the Church. He saw the church as engaged in a war with the world to bring change.

He saw it as a group that needed to imitate Christ and care for the "least of these." He saw it as a group that needed to fight for Social Justice and as a universal church that was open to all irrespective of Ethnicity, handicaps, wealth, and/ or race.  But a place where all were welcome to worship Christ.

He opposed the Nazi's to the point where he was willing to participate in the plot to assassinate Hitler, and felt it was his duty as a Christian to do so.  What is God requiring of you? Get your faith stirred by this unbreakable Believer.

  • The Cost of Discipleship Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German PH.D. in theology, but he developed his view of discipleship and costly grace from a visit to an African American Church in New York City where he saw biblical discipleship really being lived out. He saw people who advocated for the least of these, who were busy serving every day of the week.

He took that experience with him back to Germany and used it to fight Nazism. It became the core of his view of Christianity that we are to be disciples of Christ in the same way the original 12 were disciples, and pay a similar price.

And Christianity comes with a high cost, even though salvation is free.

  • The Language of God - Francis Collins

In this interview Jared and I discuss The Language of God. Francis Collins - who wrote the book - headed up the Human Genome project for the National Institute of Health. That team together with another business team worked together to create the first complete map of the human genome.

Collins is a believer in Christ and in this interview we discuss what he is trying to accomplish with the book, his journey to faith from being an atheist, and how Collins thinks about ways faith and science can coexist and even harmonize.

Collins points out that DNA is a language with a great deal of complexity and an Alphabet that spells out the form and texture of life itself.

  • The Secret of Spiritual Success - Tony Davis

This audio book we put up at the suggestion of our listeners who wanted to know more about us. This book will give you some background on us, and at the same time give you insights into the least talked about part of the trinity, that is an absolute necessity - namely the Holy Spirit which we view as the power source for believers. We believe being Spirit Filled is key to getting a "Well done!" from the Father. We do hope this book ( and it is an audio book) helps you with that.

I'm the father in the story and the new born and 4 year old now grown men, are my partners in this act to fulfill the Great Commission on our part.

  • The Kingdom Agenda Dr. Tony Evans - Audio Brief

This is Dr. Evan's Magnus Opum as he likes to say. I'm a member of his church so I won't pretend to be objective. It's a great book that touches on all the major areas of life. In fact Dr. Evans often tells us in his congregation: "The Kingdom Agenda is the visible demonstration of God's rule over every area of Life." Certainly that includes the life of the believer! Kindle lists this one as 10 hours to read cover to cover. You'll find great anecdotes and stories as well as analogies as is always the case with Dr. Evans in his book.
See what we will implement in our lives as believers based on what Dr. Evans has written.

  • The Practice of the Presence of God - Brother Lawrence

Brother Lawrence achieved an intimacy and closeness with Christ that few reach. It was so noteworthy that famous Bishops and Cardinals came to learn from him. He did this by seeking - once he was saved - to spend all of his time in the presence of God. No matter what he was doing - praying, working, fellowshipping, there was a constant line of communication with God.

As a result of this he found success in his tasks, peace, and joy. He was noted for his love for his fellow brothers at the monastery, for the way he gave to the poor and for the steadiness of his attitude no matter what.

Here we learn more about his life, and his methods for doing this.
