PEACE...

It seems like its all over the place these days  ! Oh I’m not suggesting it’s easy to walk into that life of peace in current circumstances BUT there are people all over social media telling us where and how we can find the peace we’re searching for in these troubles times ! There’s peace in the way we live, there’s peace in this hymn and that chorus, there’s peace if you follow the actions of certain people on social media and so on...so how do we cut through the tripe and get to the peace ?

PEACE...

Sometimes we find it in the strangest of places ! My wife and I have taken to doing our once a day exercise by walking around the grounds of the small Christian retreat centre where we both live and work. Around the Gardens of this stunning little place on the South Coast of Wales, are a dozen or so plaques with scripture verses on them. In fact we have a set walk around the gardens, that (once allowed to return !), visitors to the centre can do, that follows those plaques in order from 1 to 12...

PEACE...

There's a lot of people talking about it right now and many more praying for it. But for many people (Yes even some Christians !), finding God's peace in the middle of this horrible, world situation is NOT as easy as many would have us believe ! We pull up scriptures and quote songs, yet often the reality is far removed from the truth. I know, I'm one of the strugglers...

So as promised this week I want to bring the first of two memories from another of the scripture union summer camps that I attended in my childhood. Now some of you will know that a couple of years ago Anne and I moved to South Wales to start a new job and indeed as I Record it's two years ago today that We actually started here. But our move to South Wales reminded me that a little over 40 years ago I was also resident in South Wales, although at that time it was only for one week a year over two consecutive summers...

So, as promised this week I’m bringing you a sermon that I preached some 25 years ago when I was in training at Moorlands Bible College. This was my assessed preach and formed part of set of 2 sermons that were brought that day. I took as my subject The Book and story of Jonna. So with without further delay and with apologies for the sound quality (Which I’ve tried to clean up as much as possible !), here we go…
