This episode introduces two new protagonists, Declan and Sasha, who are responsible for the ceremonial packaging of gifts in Silver Creek. They discover that the resonance disruption, previously observed affecting metal and icing, is now causing specialized wrapping paper and silver foil to lose structural integrity, failing to hold a crease or tear cleanly due to the 'intention drain.' Sasha recalls hearing about a non-conductive 'Grotto Seal' paste used historically in the Grotto of Good Tidings displays. By consulting an old inventory log, they discover that this paste, noted as being highly reactive to resonant frequencies, was diverted years ago to the Municipal Storage Room to be used as specialized, non-metallic padding. Upon reaching the storage room, they find the door lock is sealed not with metallic dust, but with a strange, sticky residue smelling of maple sap, presenting a new, non-metallic obstacle to accessing the counter-agent.
